THE WALT DISNEY COMPANYDisney is a very diverse company in the
entertainment business and extends to not
only film entertainment, but also parks and
resorts, products for consumers, media
networks, The Walt Disney Studios, Disney
Interactive, and more. The Walt Disney
Company is based in Burbank California, but
Disney has locattions worldwide and is well
recognized internationally.
THE FOUNDERSRoy Disney was born on June 24th,
1893 followed by his brother, Walt
on December 5th, 1901. Together
they founded what is currently know
as The Walt Disney Company in
1923. While Roy made sure the
company was financially stable, it
was Walt who was the creative
genius. We lost Walt in 1966, but his
legacy is still alive and well.
HISTORY 1920 - 19401923: Considered to be the start of the Disney Company, then known as The Disney Brothers Studio.1928: The first Mickey Mouse cartoon was released.1932: The first full-color cartoon and Academy Award winner, Flowers and Trees, is released.1937: Disney’s first feature-length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, premieres.
HISTORY 1940 - 19801949: The Walt Disney Music Company is formed.1950: Disney’s first completely live-action film, Treasure Island, is released.1955: The first Disney park, Disneyland opened in Anaheim California.1966: Walt Disney, the man behind the magic, dies at age 66.1971:Walt Disney World Resort opens.
HISTORY 1980 TO CURRENT1982: EPCOT Center opens at Disney World.1983: In Japan, Disney’s first international theme park opens.1987: The first Disney Store opened in Glendale, California.
1992: Disneyland Paris opens.
2006: Disney acquired Pixar Animation Studios.
2009: Disneynature launches.
2009: Marvel Entertainment joins Disney
MANAGEMENT
The current CEO is Robert A. Iger,
who began his career at ABC in
1974, then joined the Disney senior
management team in 1996. He
moved up in rank until he achieved
his current position and is active
as a board member of many
organizations.
PRODUCTS & SERVICESThe Walt Disney Company offers a
diverse range of products and
services such as entertainment:
feature films, music, websites, and
television, parks and resorts:
Disneyland, Disney World, and many
more internationally, and consumer
products found in numerous stores
including but not limited to The
Disney Store.
MARKETS
Disney uses multi-
segment targeting,
marketing to not only
children, but the whole
family. Their strategy is
to cater to children and
the child in everyone.

Disney and the many
names associated with
Disney are very active in
social media, utilizing

outlets.
