About TLC The Teaching & Learning Collaborative (TLC) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide innovative, high-quality professional development and support in mathematics and science for pK-12 educators.
While we are based in Ohio, our work expands to six other states through a network of sites working to engage preK educators in science. Additionally, we have several resources being used by teachers throughout the United States and we are implementing a K-2 mathematics initiative across the state in hopes of expanding the program through strategic partnerships.
In 2012 TLC started our Signature Fundraiser, the Pi Day 5k. This 3.14 mile run/walk supports TLC programs and generates excitement about mathematics and science education. We’re so excited to continue our Pi theme during runDisney events to help raise funds for the organization. The funds raised through this event will support new initiatives and expand current projects.
We are thrilled to be a runDisney Charity Group and that you have joined us to “#RunforPi”! I’m sure you have lots of questions and we hope this FAQ document helps provide some answers.

Frequently Asked questions
1. Do I pickup my registration materials at the expo? Yes. Even though we enter your information, it’s the same process as if you had signed up on your own. At the expo you will pickup your packet, bib, and additional information just as you would normally. You will need the waiver and photo ID. We will confirm with you prior to submitting information to determine to be sure we have the correct details and if you are submitting a proof of time for corral placement in the Half Marathon.
2. What happens if I don’t meet the fundraising requirements? We really don’t think this will be an issue, but if it does, we can usually help figure it out. We’ve put together some fun ideas for you in hopes that it will help and our plan is to have two official checkpoints. July 15, 2016 Checking on progress. Ideally, having half of funds raised. September 15, 2016 Final amounts due. 3. Do I still get the official medal and shirts for the race I signed up for? Yes, as long as you complete the event with the official requirements (pace time, etc), you will get the official race medal and shirt. 4. Do we have to wear the team shirt shirt to the race? You are more than welcome to wear the shirt from TLC, but it’s not a requirement. We know the runDisney events well and we are already planning outfits! 5. How can people donate? Is there a site setup we can use? This year, we are using CrowdRise. Once you register, you can create a page linked to the group and people can donate online via the site. You can also send donations directly to us via check if that is easier. 6. How many others are on Team TLC? Currently, we have 75 spots, over all the events race weekend. We always try a meetup before the race and possibly a team event. More information on that as we decide. We’d love to do a dessert gathering at the park, with pie of course! 7. What is proof of time? For specific information on Proof of Time for events, please visit rundisney.com 8. Are donations tax deductible? Yes, TLC is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Donations are deductible. TLC will provide additional documentation for those that are interested and Crowdrise receipts can be used as well. 9. Can I get resort reservations through the charity group? Yes! We will have a limited number of rooms available for race weekend. Details will be emailed as we get them. 10. Can I get park tickets through the charity group? Yes! We will have park tickets available and will send information as soon as we get it. We also plan to have Pi al a Mode options for fundraising amounts! There is also a section on TLCs website that is specific for our Mathletes! The password for that site will be in a separate team email. This will contain reminder information, hotel reservation information and more!

Creative Ideas for Fundraising
• Ask for donations using the digits of Pi $3.14 or $31.41
• Make a pie to take to the office/work. Have people donate $3.14/slice. Or, offer to bake someone a pie for a certain donation amount.
• Choose a specific amount. For each person that donates that amount, videotape someone throwing a pie at you. Then call out other friends to donate the same amount. (Helpful tip: use whipped cream and be sure someone throws it gently.) J
• Use the images and graphics we have created to help spread the word. Tweet it-‐Post it-‐Share It! Get the word out.
• Recite the digits of Pi on video and post to a site.
• Encourage others to join our team for a great shirt. Let us know who they are and we will count their funds towards your goal!
• Several companies match employee donations—even for people who donate to your cause—that MULTIPLIES your amount quickly!
• Chipolte Fundraisers are a great idea and have been successful—they give 50% of proceeds to the organization. Contact your local Chipolte for more info.
Got an idea? Let us know and we will keep adding them!
