Scott, Snowdon Dunn, 1851-192 3Snowdon Dunn Scott fond s1837-192 31 .3 m of textual records ; 26 photographs ; 21 mapsS.D. Scott was born in Westbrook, Nova Scotia where he lived on a farm until beginning hi sapprenticeship as a ship's blacksmith . He attended Dalhousie University for a year, but h ewas forced to return to work periodically as a blacksmith while also working on the colleg epaper . In 1876 Scott completed his M.A. and became editor of the Sackville Post . He edite dnewspapers in Halifax and St . John for 25 years . In 1909 Scott came to Vancouver to workuntil 1917 on the News-Advertiser .
Scope/Content : The fonds consists of material pertaining to Scott's career as a newspaper editor, includin gwith newspapers such as the Sackville Post and Vancouver News-Advertiser, as well a smaterial relating to his political, educational and literary endeavours and interests . Includedare biographical materials, incoming and outgoing letters (1838-1923), subject files, article sand essays by Scott (1875-1922), ephemera, photographs, maps and printed material .
