ACMS June 2020 1 DISTANCE LEARNING ARBORCREEK MONTESSORI SCHOOL Distance Learning Program For Summer 2020 Available for Ages 18 months - Elementary ArborCreek is pleased to present a Distance Learning Program for Summer Camp 2020 beginning June 8th. Shelia Soslow will be the instructor/guide for our e-learning summer session. Each Distance Learning Program includes a weekly consultation session with the coordinator to finalize a detailed work plan/schedule for the week. This program is Monday - Thursday with 45 minute sessions on the Zoom platform. The ratio will be 4 students: 1 teacher. Space is limited on a first come, first served basis. Every student will also receive 2 private lessons that will include a 1:1 meeting to cover more in depth language and math presentations following the Montessori curriculum. Montessori materials may be borrowed from school, if available. All parents will receive digital copies of all assignments for the week before the session begins. A part -time option of this program is available. Please contact Sima via email at [email protected] with any questions and for the schedule of fees for this program.

Distance Learning Program For Summer 2020

ArborCreek is pleased to present a Distance Learning Program for Summer Camp 2020 beginning June 8th. Shelia Soslow will be the instructor/guide for our e-learning summer session. Distance Learning Summer Camp 2020 Primary ages 3 - 6 and Elementary ages 6 - 8Our summer program begins June 8th and what an adventure it will be! This program is out of this world as we explore the solar system, planet Earth, dinosaurs, sea creatures and more!

Shelia Soslow

Shelia has over 35 years of experience as a Montessori Guide/teacher and has worked with ArborCreek for many years. She holds a Master of Education and a Master of Science, both from the University of North Texas. She has 12 plus years experience as an educational speaker and workshop presenter. Ms. Shelia is Montessori Primary certified, has experience as a Pr imary and Toddler Lead teacher, child care staff member, and has 9 years experience as a Montessori Teacher Trainer.

Ms. Shelia has also worked with lower elementary ages in after school, special topic programs and as a substitute teacher/guide.

Ms. Shelia has led numerous s u m m e r c a m p s a n d t o p i c programs. She will bring many exciting ideas and fun activities to our 2020 summer e-learning camps!

Distance Learning Descriptions Toddlers (18 months to 3 years old)Summer fun with parents and toddler age children. Topics include Practical Life, Sensorial, Art, and Music & Movement.

Mondays - Practical Life: Find out how you can use many items around your house to help your child develop fine motor skills, concentration and focus, and eye-hand coordination. Ideas will be discussed on many activities you can keep available for your child’s learning in your own home.

Tuesdays - Music & Movement: Participate in music, yoga, songs, and physical activities with your child to help him/her develop large motor skills, concentration, and listening abilities.

Wednesdays - ART and Arts & Crafts - Experience how to use simple art materials to help your toddler create and explore different art mediums while having fun.

Thursdays - Sensorial - Learn how you can help your child develop his or her senses, perceptions, and language skills along with fie motor skills, concentration and focus, and enjoy their world. NOTE: Since this is virtual learning, parents will need to be present during each session/presentation.

Primary (4 to 6 years old)

Come with us for a summer of fun and learning. Have fun together with your friends as we venture on virtual trips around the world, go back into the age of dinosaurs , journey to the center of the Earth, blast into space, spark your imagination, create masterpieces, and become mad scientists!

Mondays - Environmental Studies: Zoology, geography, connections between farm and food, scientific experiments, and dinosaurs. Learn about the Earth we live on, how it provides us the food we eat, animals of different countries, and how to be a scientist.

Tuesdays - Music & Movement: Music, yoga, songs and physical activities. Learn songs, move to the beat, sing with your friends, create your own rhythm, study musical notes, and make your own instruments.

Wednesdays - ART and Arts & Crafts: “Every child is born an artist; the task is how to remain one.” - Picasso. Experience art, learn about classic artists and make your own masterpieces; be a friend to the Earth by crafting activities with recycled materials, develop your imagination!

Thursdays - Earth Science: Astronomy, Geology, Climatology, and Botany. Learn about the planets and our star, water and plant cycles, plants and gardening, and making a volcano erupt right in front of you!

Lower Elementary (6-8 years old)

Presentations will follow the same themes and schedule as primary/preschool age children but will have more information, ideas, extensions and extra worksheets that are more advanced and developmentally age appropriate. Some sessions will also include optional homework to encourage more in depth learning of the topic and concepts which may include curriculum topics on reading, writing, math, and research.
