Distributed Network Management Solution
Introduction
A Distributed Network Management Solution is an architecture in which networking devices such as wireless access points, switches and IP cameras can be deployed in a single zone and be locally managed by an on-site hardware controller or management software, and at the same time various zones can be centrally managed by a remote centralized management platform.

Introduction
Neutron Access Point EnGenius Neutron Access Points are the basic elements providing wireless connectivity. All Neutron APs can either be deployed as standalone device (aka ‘Fat AP’) or be managed centrally by management entities in each distributed network. Neutron Switch Besides providing PoE power to APs, Neutron Switches are capable of turning on its controller features to manage devices in its Zone (subnet) independently. It can also play a role as a intermediate connection coordinator when it is managed by ezMaster. ezMaster A flexible and highly scalable network management system in which all distributed networks can be linked together to form a unified network, providing centralized management and monitoring of data routing, allocating network bandwidth, access control, guest networks and other networking processes, a seamless upgrade path for your existing networks.

Introduction
The trend of IoT and BYOD are meant to make work more efficient but at the same time, also contributes to the growing network complexity problem that plague many IT managers. EnGenius Distributed Networking Solution provides the solution in following directions:
Why EnGenius Distributed Networking Solution?
Scalability Start small and grow. The ideal solution for deployments of all scales, from branch offices to SMB to Enterprise environment for managing unlimited Neutron networking devices. Flexibility Each Neutron device in the distributed network can also operate in standalone mode. In particular, Neutron switch also embeds wireless controller features which eases the deployment especially in small scale deployments. Reliability The architecture of EnGenius Distributed Network Solution is designed so that user data
does not necessary flow through Neutron Switch or ezMaster meaning that there will be no impact on the user’s Internet connection if AP connection to either Neutron Switch or ezMaster is lost.
Affordability Pay once, use forever. No need to pay for license, hardware, software, extra features or
tech support.

COMPETITOR COMPARISON
WLAN Management Solutions Overview
Controllerless Solution: Aerohive
No on-site hardware controller required, all configurations done on HiveManager Online portal.
Drawbacks:
• Need to use online service to provision AP. No embedded UI.
• AP HW is costly and requires annual license for each unit.
• Loses to ability to manage and fully operate your Wi-Fi network after subscription expires.
Cloud-based Solution: Meraki
No on-site hardware controller required, all configurations done on Meraki dashboard portal.
Drawbacks:
• No embedded UI on AP. Need to setup using online service.
• Expensive subscription fees based on “per device, per year” basis.
• After subscription expires, you lose the ability to operate your APs. The whole Wi-Fi turn off.
Hardware Controller: Ruckus ZoneDirector
APs are centrally managed and monitored using an on-site HW controller.
Drawbacks:
• Not easy to use. Requires “special training” to operate.
• HW controller has limits and need a new unit to support more APs.
• Pay-as-you-grow. HW controller requires additional “upgrade licenses” to support more APs.
Neutron Series: A Distributed Network Management Solution • Easy to operate all-in-one wired and wireless network management solution.
• Scalable solution for managing from 1 to 1000 Access Points. No extra hardware required to operate.
• No additional software, subscription or tech support charges.
• Built-in PoE and Layer 2 features on Neutron switch requiring no additional power source and Ethernet switch.
• ezMaster can be used as a software based management solution with no on-site hardware controller required to operate.

Features
Feature Highlights
Topology View
Automatically maps your network deployment and displays the device relationships across your network infrastructure. A innovative and useful feature for troubleshooting network issues that would otherwise require manual mapping, overlay monitoring software, or manually keeping track of MAC address tables.
Captive Portal
Feature Highlights
Used to intercept network traffic according to the specified authentication policies, until the user authenticates his/her connection, usually through a specifically designated login web page.
Client Fingerprinting
Client Fingerprinting allows administrators to easily identify wireless clients connected to the network. Instead of displaying only the MAC Address, the EWS Switch will also identify the Operating System and Device Info.

Feature Highlights
One-Click Upgrade
• Allow users to upgrade their Neutron devices with ease. One simple click to update all devices. • Receive new firmware notifications in GUI so users can conveniently check that the current
firmware on their Neutron devices (switch and AP) are the most up-to-date version. • Verify that the firmware of the Neutron switch is compatible with the Neutron AP (and vice versa). • Easy operation, just like “Windows Live Update” or “AppStore”
Notification will appear when new fw is available
Feature Highlights
Wireless Coverage Display
Wireless Coverage Display can be toggled in Floor Plan to indicate the coverage range of each Neutron Access Point so IT managers can easily and accurately plan and deploy wireless networks in any indoor environment.
Feature Highlights
Feature Highlights
Floor Plan / Map View
Allows for quickly locating deployed APs by simply drag-and-dropping markers, a useful feature for multi-site large scale AP deployments.
Feature Highlights
Intelligent Troubleshooting
Automatically check the wired connection status of APs and provide easy troubleshooting instruction for offline units. PoE powered APs can be rebooted remotely without on-site staff.
Network Usage Statistics
The system organizes and visualizes the network traffic in clear and easy-to-read graphs.
Feature Highlights
AP1
1. Client logs on AP1 2. The access key of the client is passed on to all connected APs in the network 3. When the client moves between AP1 to AP2, the roaming procedure takes place.

The Fast Handover can assist the clients to operate under the stable connection.
According to the RSSI strength as setting by administrators, clients will be
disconnected and connected to other AP.

The Guest Network is designed to allow users to manage “visitors” access within the network.
When visitors associate with the unique SSID for accessing Internet, the administrators can
manage and monitor the network from the central location to prevent the malicious attack to
applications at the local network.

Band Steering
When working as AP mode, “Band Steering” function is available. Band steering
steers the 5GHz-compatible clients to 5GHz band by responding only to the 5GHz
association requests and not the 2.4 GHz requests. It helps to leave more
bandwidth for 2.4GHz device operating in 2.4GHz band.
