Poble nou is one of the newest areas in Barcelona. When you enter Poble nou you have a feeling of new, fresh and not the feeling that you’re in Barcelona. New architecture, parks with a lot of silver and open with no high trees. They say; Diagonal mar a neighborhood of the future. Diagonal mar is centered at the end of Diagonal.

Diagonal mar is open from Monday till Saturday from 10 to 22 h. Adres: 3 Avda. Diagonal • BUS: Lines 7, 36, 41, 43, 92, 141, N6 & N8. • Metro: El Maresme/Fòrum. L4 This part of the city is for the new people. Not the people for example out of Raval, it’s new, modern. And I think the people who visit Diagonal mar are modern and lot of families or young couples.

All the shops we have at plaza Cataluña, for example Fnac, Blanco, Zara, H&m etc are centred in Diagonal mar. Everything is inside one building. Food, shopping, restaurants and cinema. Diagonal mar also opened as first one in Spain, Primark. An English clothing shop, like Topshop but then cheaper and less quality.

   

 

   

         

Shops:

L’illa Diagonal. L’illa is centered at the other end of Diagonal. L’illa is a shopping center different then Diagonal mar. L’illa is more for people who have money. More wealthy people like middleclass people.

L’illa has less shops then Diagonal mar. It’s more shops such as Zara, Decatlon, Barbieshop, Fnac, and El corte ingles. They are one of the most general shops. Like restaurants, meatstore, fruit store. L’illa is one of the most known shopping malls in Barcelona.

L’illa is way more smaller then diagonal mar but it’s looks way more expensive, way more modern, like Gran Via 2 next to Plaza Espanya, in that shopping mall you have the feeling your in Dubai, with all the gold and big shops. L’illa has like Diagonal mar 3 levels. And some shops surrounding L’illa like H&M.

L’illa is the only the most difficult to reach, there is a metro Maria Christina, the busses that go there are number 7,32, 25.

It’s doesn’t have a lot of places for kids, it’s really plain. Not entertaining like diagonal mar.

The area is Eixample; people come from the upper places from Barcelona like the surrounding of Barcelona, small villages out of Barcelona like Sant Just, Esplugues, and Sant feliu.

I prefer to go to Diagonal mar, it’s way more relaxing and less people. Because if your going on Saturday to L’illa you cannot enter any shop because it’s so busy, with Diagonal mar it’s the same but less people. Also I prefer Diagonal mar because of the good sushi restaurant and cinema.
