DCM – Aaron D.
Hi District 11!
We have an important event for GSRs and AA members coming
up! On March 16th from 1:00-4:00 PM (at 17311 Reservation Rd,
La Conner - where the No Reservations meeting is held), we will be
having our Pre-Conference, where our Area Delegate Alan will
come meet with us to discuss the General Service Conference that
will be held in New York in May. This will be our opportunity to
learn about what will be discussed at the General Service
Conference this year, as well as to give our groups' input to our
Delegate to take to New York! Some of you may be wondering why
we do all this. I'll leave that to friend of AA, and non-alcoholic
chairman of the Board of Trustees, Bernard B Smith, in his opening
to the 1954 General Service Conference:
"We may not need a General Service Conference to ensure our own
recovery. We do need it to ensure the recovery of the alcoholic who
still stumbles in the darkness one short block from this room. We
need it to ensure the recovery of a child being born tonight, destined
for alcoholism. We need it to provide, in keeping with our Twelfth
Step, a permanent haven for all alcoholics who, in the ages ahead,
can find in A.A. that rebirth that brought us back to life.
We need it because we, more than all others, are conscious of the
devastating effect of the human urge for power and prestige which
we must ensure can never invade AA. We need it to ensure AA
against government, while insulating it against anarchy.
We need it so that Alcoholics Anonymous, and Alcoholics
Anonymous alone, is the ultimate repository of its Twelve Steps, its
Twelve Traditions, and all of its services.
We need it to ensure that changes within AA come only as a
response to the needs and the wants of all AA, and not of any few.
We need it to ensure that the doors of the halls of AA never have
locks on them, so that all people for all time who have an alcoholic
problem may enter these halls unasked and feel welcome. We need
it to ensure that Alcoholics Anonymous never asks of anyone who
needs us what his or her race is, what his or her creed is, what his or
her social position is."
Corrections & Treatment – Ben J.
All is well at C&T. We are looking for a new St. Joe's Coordinator.
It's a great opportunity to be of service! For more info, please attend
the monthly Corrections and Treatment meeting on the 4th
Thursday of the month at 5:30pm at Northwest Hall.
Love and Service,
Ben J
Treasurer – Rob H.
“When we meet and defeat the temptation to take large gifts, we are
only being prudent. But when we are generous with the hat we give
a token that we are grateful for our blessings and evidence that
we are eager to share what we have found with all those who still
suffer.” (The Language of the Heart, p. 221)
All services in A.A., from making meetings available to those still
coming into the Fellowship, to the district's hotline service, to
international affairs conducted at the General Service Office, are
intended to accomplish the same end: to carry the A.A. message to
the still suffering alcoholic.
Your generous contributions make all of that possible.
Thank you for your support.
Phone Service – Craig C.
The phone service currently has three openings on the hotline. We
need sober alcoholics to answer the phone. It's fun and easy. We are
hosting a Hotline Workshop on March 11 at the Drydock; pizza and
fellowship at 6:30, workshop from 7-8pm. Our regular meetings are
the third Thursday of the month at 6:15 at the Drydock. All are
invited to the meetings and workshop. Come and learn how you can
help carry the message to the still suffering alcoholic.
In love and service. Craig C.

Dr. Bob and the Good Old timers, pg 222 "Perpetual quietness of heart. It is to have no trouble. It is never to be frustrated or vexed, irritable or sore; to wonder at nothing that is done to me, to feel nothing done against me, and when I am blamed or despised, it is to have a blessed home in myself where I can go in and shut the door and pray to my father in secret and be at peace, as in a deep sea of calmness, when all around and about is seeming trouble.” First written by Andrew Murray, a. So. African religious leader, ca. 1828-1917
Three legacies of AA are
Recovery, Unity and Service. We serve because we are grateful for AA
saving our lives.
A Declaration of Unity This we owe to A.A.’s future:
To place our common welfare first; To keep our fellowship united.
For on A.A. unity depend our lives, And the lives of those to come
