District 2 Vacancy

• Council Member Meeker’s resignation effective November 6, 2012.

• Resignation creates vacancy in District 2.• As per City Charter, City Council must appoint a

replacement by December 6, 2012.• CM Meeker’s term expires November 2014.• Replacement will be in Office until November

2014.

• Must be a qualified elector in District 2• Must maintain residency in District 2 for

length of term• Must reside in District 2 for at least 45 weeks

in each year

1. Advertisementa. Letters will be mailed in September to District 2

residents who are: current or past members of City boards/committees, past students of the City's Citizens Academy, interested individuals who have contacted the City Clerk’s

officeb. Advertisements during the first week of October in:

2. Application• All applicants must submit a letter-of-interest and a résumé to

the City Clerk’s office no later than 4:00 pm on October 25, 2012.

• Copies of qualified applications will be delivered to City Council no later than October 29, 2012.

3. Selection Process• Council to review and rank the applications and submit no

later than the morning of November 5, 2012

• Clerk to tally ranking sheets submitted by Council

• The top four applicants will be contacted and interviews scheduled for November 13, 2012

• A Special Council Meeting immediately following the interviews on November 13, 2012, at which time Council will vote to make the final selection of an appointee for District 2.

• The appointee will be sworn in at the November 20, 2012 City Council meeting.
