Special mention• Don’t use diuretics overenthusiastically.
(dehydration, hypotension)• Brisk diuresis in cirrhosis may precipitate
hepatic coma. (hypokalemia, alkalosis and increased NH3 levels)
• Diuretics not used in Toxaemia of Pregnancy. (Blood volume is low despite edema. Diuretics will compromise placental circulation)
