Division 21 ! ddddd

Can you believe it is December already? I can’t—I feel like I have just gotten over

Halloween and now there’s the frenzy to get the lights on, the tree up, and to go

shopping! What are some of your holiday traditions?

This is a very crucial month for our mighty division. On December 20th, our Generosity

Rocks Concert will take place at Sussex County Community College from 6-9pm

(See Pages 3-5). It is important for you to begin publicizing this information and to

find bands from your school! Dues were due December 1st. I hope all of you have

submitted your invoices along with the correct amount of money to pay for your

members. Please contact me immediately if this is not the case.

This month is also an important time for preparation, especially for District

Convention 2011. See Page 8 for more information. Please prepare for the Division

21 Lieutenant Governor Elections on January 14th (Page 6). It is imperative that there

are at least two delegates from your club in attendance! Visit the Save the Date,

moved to Page 10.

Otherwise, please have a great December. With all the school pressures going on

right now, it’s important to spend time with your family and loved ones. When it

begins to snow, go play outside or ski/snowboard! Watch holiday movies and have

hot chocolate. It’ll help you relax and get into the holiday spirit.

No matter which traditions you may follow, have a wonderful holiday!

Yours in Caring and in Service,

Gabrielle Gutierrez

DIVISION 21: High Point ~ Hackettstown ~ Vernon ~ Pope John ~ Mount Olive ~ Sparta ~ Sussex Vo-Tech

Division 21 has been a leading division of the New Jersey District of Key Club International

thanks to all of your hard work and dedication! All of you: whether you’re a club Secretary

filling out CMRFs or a general member participating in fundraisers, you are making our

service year wonderful! Here are a few out of the many reasons why you guys are so amazing:

IN THE SPOTLIGHT:

Name: Maysa Bhat

HS: Hackettstown

Position: Co-President

Grade: Senior

Maysa is a great president: her leadership and

love of Key Club is always apparent. She went

out of her way to attend the Central RTC, even

though it wasn’t as close as the North RTC and

she has tried her best to make it to my PCMs.

She always calls when she needs help and

communicates how well her club is doing to me.

Not only is she a great Key Clubber—she is a

great friend. Whether it’s ranting about

schoolwork or college applications, she’s always

there to listen.

CLUB THANK YOUS:

Thank you, High Point: For submitting CMRFs

early and getting dues in on time!

Thank you, Sparta: For submitting CMRFs on

time and having two representatives attend

my 5th PCM!

Thank you, Mt. Olive: For submitting CMRFs

Whether you have been longing to be a Lieutenant Governor, are somewhat

interested in the position, or are just plain curious, ask me about my roles and

duties!

Believe it or not, it is already time to elect my successor, the Lieutenant Governor

of Division 21 for the 2011-2012 service year!

The President of the club should have received the November Mailing by District

Secretary Kevin Sun, which inside the Elections Packet includes the Lieutenant

Governor Service Agreement. One part of these forms is the Lieutenant Governor

Mandatory Criteria. There are twenty-five different requirements an LTG must fulfill,

as well as mandatory dates. If any of these points conflict with your schedule or if

you feel it is too much work, then the position is not for you. But if not, I urge you to

run!

Even if you are not running for LTG, two delegates from each club must be

present at elections.

Date: Friday, January 14, 2011

Time: 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Location: The Main Library in Newton, NJ (Will be held in the meeting room)

Directions: The address is 125 Morris Turnpike, Newton, NJ 07860

Snow Date: Friday, January 28, 2011 (same time frame and location)

During November, clubs were given between 30

and 50 ribbons to sell throughout their school, in

which the proceeds would go to Children’s

Specialized Hospital

Please continue to sell these ribbons for $2 each. If

you would like to personalize them by writing “CSH”

on them, please feel free to do so!

Ribbon money will be collected at the December

PCM (December 15th 2010)

November is the March of Dimes Prematurity Awareness Month!

Did you know that each and every day, more than 1,400 infants in the United States

will be born prematurely? Premature birth is the biggest killer among newborn babies. Even

babies that are only a few weeks early can still suffer from lifelong illnesses which threaten

their lungs, heart and immune system. In our country, 1 in every 8 infants is born prematurely,

and many of those births could have been prevented!

The March of Dimes is working every day to help reduce the number of deaths of

premature babies and mothers. They are working to find the causes and cures for premature

births and are working with hospitals all over the country to better equip their Neonatal

Intensive Care Units and help save lives.

Now, what can you do to get involved? There are several things you can do and help

fight for preemies. Get your friends, club, and the entire school together. Don’t forget to also

contact your local March of Dimes Chapter; they can help you get things started. A great

thing to try is to have a 2 Week Fundraising Plan. Every day, have a different way to spread

March of Dimes awareness and raise money. Things like a coin collection, denim day, food

sales, purple day are all great ideas and very easy to implement. Talk to your advisors and

principals about the cause and they should be more than willing to help. Don’t forget to use

the internet to help promote your events!

All over the country more and more teens are getting together and partnering with

March of Dimes, and you can too!

You can volunteer at a NICU in your local hospital,

or holding a book and toy drive to donate to

children. The possibilities are endless once you

decide to get involved and every little bit makes

a difference!

Check out all the resources available to you at

marchofdimes.com,

www.marchofdimesyouth.com/files/PAMYouthTo

olkit.pdf, and in the International Programs

Cookbook. Good luck!

BY LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR OF

DIVISION 10, SARAH NOORANI

*Note: Although November is over, continue to promote March of Dimes throughout the holiday season!

over your school! Refer anyone with questions to me!
