Marianela Peralta new Assistant General Counsel at Wal-Mart
Ms. Peralta will be part of the Employment Group at Wal-Mart
Stores, Inc., advising the company on wage and hour and
other employment matters. is the D.C. Bar’s Secretary and
sits on the board of The National Aquarium in D.C./National
Aquarium Institute. She is a past-President of the Hispanic
Bar Association of D.C. and is active with the local and
national Hispanic Bar Associations, the Women’s Bar
Association of D.C., the Corporate Counsel Women of Color,
and the D.C. Diverse Partners Network and is a trained
mediator who handles complaints of civil rights violations in

Edmund Cooke, Jr. will join the firm as Senior Counsel. Anthony Alexis has been named Deputy Enforcement Director for
Field Litigation at the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
(CFPB). In his new role, Tony will assist in the development, growth
and supervision of the four CFPB regional offices in New York,
Chicago, San Francisco and Washington, DC. His specific
responsibilities will include the development and appropriate pursuit
of substantive investigations and cases related to violations of
federal consumer financial laws; providing support for the Office of
Supervision in its examination of regulated entities (large banks and
non-banks that offer consumer financial products or services);
establishing strong partnerships with law enforcement agencies and
strategic partners within the regions; and supervising and
conducting enforcement matters in court.

Ben Wilson Nominated to Dartmouth Board of Trustees
Black Alumni of Dartmouth Association (BADA) is proud to
announce that the deadline for petition candidates for the Board
of Trustees has passed, and no opponents to the slate have
been nominated. Therefore, Benjamin F. Wilson ’73 is running
unopposed! Ben’s candidacy is significant because he is the first
member of BADA to progress through the candidacy process as
a general nominee from the entire alumni pool, as opposed to
being appointed as a candidate. Trustee balloting will take
place March 14 through April 11, 2012. Good luck Ben!

a group of 20 to 30 line enforcement attorneys conducting investigations and bringing
cases administratively and in federal courts and will serve on the management team of
the Enforcement Division. The ideal candidate will have significant litigation experience,
management experience and some knowledge of consumer financial products and
services. There will be one or two vacancies for this position.
Position: Assistants for Litigation Group Chief. The candidate chosen for this
position will assist a Litigation Group Chief in managing a group of 20 to 30 line
enforcement lawyers. The ideal candidate will have substantial litigation experience,
some management experience and/or knowledge of consumer financial products and
services. There will be at least six such vacancies.
Position: Director of Litigation Support. The candidate chosen for this position will
be responsible for managing a range of functions and staff providing support to the line
enforcement attorneys of the Enforcement Division and will serve on the management
team of the Division. In particular, this individual will manage the work of six forensic
financial analysts, three to four investigators, three information technology support staff
and a training coordinator. The ideal candidate will have substantial knowledge
regarding litigation matters, some management experience and some knowledge of
consumer financial products and services. There will be one vacancy for this position to
be filled.

Chief Legal Officer at Atlantic Health
We are looking for someone with at least 20 years of experience gained at both a law
firm and as a prior general counsel in the healthcare industry and preferably a hospital
system. S/he must have a strong commercial background with experience negotiating,
drafting and implementing a wide variety of complex, multi-party agreements, including
mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances and joint ventures, as well as physician
affiliation agreements. Solid healthcare experience is required, including in the areas of
hospital/healthcare business operations and contracting; hospital/physician contracting;
and healthcare regulatory and legal compliance.
Reporting to the CEO, the CLO will oversee system-wide legal affairs of the organization
and will manage the legal, risk management, compliance and internal audit functions.
S/he will be a part of the senior management leadership team, functioning as a trusted
advisor to the CEO, the Board of Trustees, and other senior officers on a wide range of
strategic, tactical, and operational issues. The CLO will advise on major contracts and
transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and business and physician
agreements; regulatory compliance; tax-exempt bonds and other financing agreements;
litigation; research and IP matters; health IT policy and systems; labor and employment
issues; and medical staff and patient care matters. Pragmatically managing legal risks
and being an astute business executive are key components to the position.

Diann Rust-Tierney, Executive Direction of The National Coalition to Abolish the Death
Penalty, is interested in a sublease or pro bono office space arrangement in the DC
Metropolitan area. The organization requires approximately
1200 -1300 square feet or enough space to accommodate roughly 8-10 offices or
workspaces in combination. The National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty is the
oldest and largest organization dedicated exclusively to ending capital punishment in
the United States. It provides technical assistance and capacity building support to a
network affiliated grassroots organizations who are engaged in public policy advocacy
to end capital punishment so that more resources can be devoted to supporting victims
