They are skilled in training, organizational assessments and a full range of diversity interventions. In addition, full-time faculty conduct research on culture and diversity issues. Program Requirements Students earn 40 credit hours in specially designed courses and move through the program as a cohort-based learning community.They also receive leadership coaching in the first year. Fieldwork Practicum In the second year, students work in small consulting teams with organizations that seek diversity management interventions. Over six months, students apply strategies to gather data on the organization’s culture, analyze the data, provide feedback, recommend changes, and deliver the interventions to the client. Exit Requirements Students have three exit options: 1) Comprehensive Exam, 2) Action Research or 3) Thesis. Students taking Comprehensive Examinations attend review sessions and study groups and take a written exam that is evaluated by faculty for satisfactory completion of exit requirements. Thesis students conduct research that contributes new knowledge to the field of diversity management, suitable for publication. Action Research students complete a project with a client and write a comprehensive analysis report on the intervention. Students who select the thesis option make oral presentations in their final semester. Program Description The Cleveland State University Diversity Management Program (DMP) is a unique Master’s Degree specialty that features a modern curriculum designed to prepare leaders for the critical challenges of a 21st century global economy. Founded 15 years ago in partnership with business leaders of the Cleveland Roundtable, DMP is the first and only Master’s program in Diversity Management in the country.

The program is designed for business, community, and organizational leaders and independent practitioners who want to develop dynamic organizational change leadership skills. DMP features faculty and business experts in innovative, forward-thinking organizational goal achievement.

Program participants develop and enhance leadership skills for guiding large and small companies, government agencies and nonprofits. These leaders will possess the critical change management leadership and cultural competence skills necessary to successfully lead organizations. The program will help you and your organization’s current and future leaders successfully meet the multiple challenges of a diverse global marketplace, fast changing diverse workforce and sustainability.

The program combines the rigorous challenge of scholastic discipline with real-world casework performed by our Master’s candidates in field practicum with supporting organizations.

Bottom line, the program creates organization leadership for today and tomorrow.

A Flexible, Executive MBA FormatGraduates of this distinctive program increase their ability to foster organizational success and excellence. They learn how to lead diverse people in a complex global business environment.

The DMP is designed in the style of an executive MBA. Students complete the master’s degree in just 21 months, meeting for three intensive days a month, allowing for flexible accommodation of work schedules. The program fee includes books, materials and meals. Class cohorts begin every August.

The DMP is especially geared to the needs of mid-career adult learners. Combining classroom instruction and practical application, participants learn the essentials of group dynamics, group facilitation techniques, organizational assessment and skills as a change agent.
