DESIGN DEVELOPMENTEXPLORING SILHOUETTE, PRINT, TEXTURE, FABRICATION AND ILLUSTRATION STYLE TO DEVELOP A COLLECTION THAT RELFECTS UNIQUE LAYERING OF A PERSON.

Strong shapes traced in fine liner to define further.

In my general diversity research I focused on what makes each person completely individual... This can not be pin pointed as everyone is made of tonnes of tiny parts; both internal and external. My designs are based upon these personal layers. My starting point being visable yet organic layering in vegetation.

Fabrication

USING RAGS OF DIFFERENT COLOURS AND FABRICS, DENSELY PACKED TOGETHER IN AN OLD RAG RUG MAKING TECHNIQUE. - CUT SHORT LINES INTO FABRIC IN AN ORDERLY MANNER - WEAVE THE FABRIC STRIPS INTO ONE CUT AND OUT ANOTHER.

-FOLD A STRIP OF FABRIC IN HALF (THIN AND FAIRLY LONG).-CUT LINES FROM THE FOLDED EDGE TO 1CM FROM THE RAW EDGE. -UNFOLD-PULL EACH LINE ABOVE THE NEXT, ALLOWING THEM TO CROSS.-STITCH ENDS

I CUT EQUAL WIDTH STRIPS OUT OF THE LEATHER AND SIMPLY WEAVED TOGETHER, KEEPING THE STRIPS TIGHT AND THE STRUCTURE STRONG.I CHOSE LEATHER AS IT REMINDS ME AS A BIT OF A SHELL, A STRONGER FABRIC THAT REMINDS ME OF A TOUGH EXTERIOR.

SANDWICH FABRIC SCRAPS OF ALL

SIZES AND TYPES BETWEEN TWO LARGER

LAYERS. STITCH LINES ALONG THE

FABRICS, THEN CUT BETWEEN THE LINES

-MISSING THE BOTTOM FABRIC LAYER.

POP INTO THE WASHING MACHINE TO

FRAY AND WEAR.

SLASHING WEAVING

COLOURS ARE KEPT TONAL TO GIVE A FEEL OF

LAYERING AND DEPTH. THE USE OF NEUTRAL AND

SOFT SHADES WILL PREVENT AN OVERWHELMING

OUTCOME WHEN COMBINED WITH THE TEXTURAL

FABRIC MANIPULATIONS.

CLOTHING IS DIGITALLY APPLIED TO HAND DRAWING, GIVING A CONTRAST IN SYLE AND A

CLEAR IMAGE ON FABRIC BY USING PHOTOGRAPHED/SCANNED FABRICATION.

STYLE OF FACE AND BODY ARE MADE TO MATCH EACHOTHER, BUT AGAIN HAVE A CONTRAST TO THE

DIGITAL CLOTHING. DESIGNS ABOVE ARE ON A CLEAR STANCE WHICH SHOWS A FULL FIGURE AND

OUTFIT.

Personal StructureA COLLECTION BASED ON EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL LAYERS OF A PERSON. USING PANELS, PLEATS, TEXTURAL FABRIC MANIPULATIONS AND VISABLE STITCHING TO CREATE A VARIED LAYERED EFFECT. EACH EFFECT REPRESENTING DIFFERENT SEGMENTS TO AN INDIVIDUAL.
