The term is flying by... I cannot believe semester one is nearly over! I would like this opportunity to thank the staff of Jesmond Public School for their hard work, dedication and positivity to our students and community. This year we have faced many challenges especially during COVID and each time another change was asked of the staff they continued to adjust their teaching to meet the needs of each student in our school. Our non-teaching staff were flexible and demonstrated so much care and commitment to our community. Thank you so much. It is exciting to see so many students coming to school each day, engaging in their learning and following school responsibilities. Each day I am amazed at how resilient and adaptable the children are at Jesmond PS. Their smiles and ability to have a go at any task is commendable. They certainly are persevering with their learning and achieving many successes. Congratulations everyone. I am truly grateful to be part of the Jesmond school community and working with amazing staff and students. Friday Assembly Last Friday, all students participated in a K-2 or Years 3-6 assembly to acknowledge quality work. It was great to view the learning that is happening across stages. I have been visiting classrooms and initiating conversations with students about their learning, specifically focusing on learning goals and mathematic key ideas. Pyjama Day Riley and Evie organised Pyjama Day last Friday and thank you for your support. The school raised $324 to help with the Year 6 farewell at the end of the year. Please read our school leaders recount of the event in this newsletter. Parent-Teacher Partnerships I understand at times you may have some concerns or questions about what is happening at school especially if your child is involved. Please do not hesitate to contact your child's classroom teacher or myself. Often a chat over the telephone can address your concerns and explain what has happened. I encourage you to stay in touch with all staff and please let us know if we can support you in any way. Collaboration Days This week all staff are participating in Collaboration Days with their stage colleagues. The main focus areas include assessment, providing feedback, documenting student learning progress and reporting areas of development and achievement. These are valuable days where by staff engage in rich discussions and modify and adjust their teaching practices to improve student outcomes.

This will be our last newsletter for Term 2. Have a restful holiday and stay safe. The staff and I look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday 21st July. Enjoy Deborah Kelly

Pyjama Day Report “We would like to thank the students, families and staff for supporting the Year 6 fundraiser by wearing pyjamas and donating money to this event. With your support we have raised...$324! You all looked great in your pyjamas!” Evie & Riley

Library News Can all students please return library books as soon as possible as Mrs Mitchell needs to clean and store books. This will enable us to be prepared when borrowing recommences. Thank you P&C News Uniform Shop With the chilly winter weather upon us, the uniform shop has just received a new order of jackets. Sizes 4 – 16 are available at a cost of $45 each. Please leave orders and money at the office. A new delivery of black short sleeve polos will be arriving soon! Sizes 4 – 16 will be available and are $25 each. When the polos arrive, we will notify you.
