First GradePrompt: Opinion/Informative/Explanatory
Explain (draw, dictate and write) who George Washington is by sharing a fact about him and one story that is not true. Use the book Our First President, the portrait “‘Parson Weems’ Fable” and video “Ask History: George Washington and the Cherry Tree” to help with your explanation.
Extend: Explain (draw, dictate and write) if you think it is okay to make up a nice story about someone.
Student response:
G.W. our father of our country. G.W. did not cut a cherry tree down. It is not nice to make up stories because you will not no the fact.
