In our 2011 report, The Trust Deficit: Views from the Boardroom, we showed how the financial crisis had altered expectations about business’s role in society. In 2014, The Trust Deficit: After the Crash explored how relationships among business, media and politics had come under strain. Working together with the Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation at the Said Business School, we used these findings to formulate recommendations on how to re-build trust in business. Our latest report, to be presented at the final Trust Forum on 17 November, will make public our research on how business leaders, politicians and media commentators reacted to our recommendations. This report challenges business to take the lead in re-building trust. We call on business leaders to reflect on what we have learned in the last five years and to anticipate how the definition of responsible business will change in the coming five. Through a series of recommendations, we aim to equip the business community with the tools it needs to halt the decline in trust, take back control of the agenda and build confidence in business’s positive contributions to society. Our Trust Advisory Panel have actively contributed to the research and provided valuable contributions. Members will join Baroness Wheatcroft, our Business Ambassador, at the Forum to discuss the latest research and offer their insights on the recommendations to rebuild trust. 17 NOVEMBER Baroness Wheatcroft – Chairman of the Trust Panel Edward Bonham-Carter – Vice Chairman, Jupiter Fund Management Rita Clifton CBE – Chairman, BrandCap Lord Clement-Jones CBE – London Managing Partner, DLA Piper Lord Cooper – Co-founder, Populus Rick Haythornthwaite – Chairman, Centrica Justin King CBE – Former Group Chief Executive, Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd Ken Olisa OBE – Founder and Chairman, Restoration Partners John Thornhill – Innovation Editor, Financial Times Simon Walker – Director General, Institute of Directors Rupert Younger – Director, Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation Members of our Trust Advisory Panel are: The issue of trust in business is one of the most hotly debated and problematic issues of our times. At times, big business is portrayed as the enemy of the people, while a widespread backlash against globalisation continues to shake the governance of modern societies. DLA PIPER TRUST FORUM

For five years, we at DLA Piper have been conducting in-depth research into corporate trust.

17 NOVEMBER

■ Baroness Wheatcroft – Chairman of the Trust Panel

■ Edward Bonham-Carter – Vice Chairman, Jupiter Fund Management

■ Rita Clifton CBE – Chairman, BrandCap

■ Lord Clement-Jones CBE – London Managing Partner, DLA Piper

■ Lord Cooper – Co-founder, Populus

■ Rick Haythornthwaite – Chairman, Centrica

■ Justin King CBE – Former Group Chief Executive, Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd

■ Ken Olisa OBE – Founder and Chairman, Restoration Partners

■ John Thornhill – Innovation Editor, Financial Times

■ Simon Walker – Director General, Institute of Directors

■ Rupert Younger – Director, Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation

Members of our Trust Advisory Panel are:

The issue of trust in business is one of the most hotly debated and problematic issues of our times. At times, big business is portrayed as the enemy of the people, while a widespread backlash against globalisation continues to shake the governance of modern societies. This has also changed the dynamics between business, politics and the media, breaking down trusting relationships.
