DBE certified companies can access contracts and subcontracts that areworth a few thousand dollars toseveral millions of dollars.

DBE certified companies are able to bid on contracts with airports various highway agencies transitDBE certified companies are able to bid on contracts with airports, various highway agencies, transitauthorities and other state agencies that receive federal funding from the U.S. Department ofTransportation for certain projects, such as building and designing railroads, airports, bridges, roads andports.

DBE tifi ti d th U S D t t f T t ti ’ (USDOT) DBE i t thDBE certification under the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) DBE program is not the same asthe certification(s) a firm may have under local programs in your state or county jurisdiction. Firms canonly participate in federally funded projects as DBEs if they are certified as DBEs in accordance with therequirements of the USDOT DBE Program.

ifi i id f k i i f d bCertification as a DBE provides greater exposure for work opportunities. Once certified, businessinformation for all certified DBEs appears in the DBE Directories in each state where a firm is certified. Thisdatabase/reference manual is widely used by contractors and local and state agencies seeking to do businesswith DBEs.
