Creating a map and knowing you self more can help in giving a meaning to your work. If a person know more about himself, he can create an art work that has a touch of his personality. So its very important to understand your self before creating your work.

m a Zayed University graduate. As an animator, I made many short animated mov-ies. I also created short stories and brought many characters to life. I look forward to create and animate movies that can change the world. I really believe that animation has a big effect on children, which might change the way people look at things.

Animating my characters, giving life to objects is my way to enter people’s heart.

It’s a matter of making people fall in love with my ideas and work. I believe that if I animated my way to people’s hearts, I would help them to see what I see, feel what I feel, and think just like the way I think. My dream is to change the world and I believe the most effective way to change the world is through animated cartoons. My main audience are children all around the world.

I was inspired by superhero cartoon characters since childhood. i tried to explore through sketching my characters by using new techniques. I like to use lines often. I will achieve my goals through making my own company and my own TV animation show.

I think that children respond to ideas which television presents to them. If we want to change the world, we must change the way we think and what the next generation thinks. I created a logo represents myself as a character that has many aspirations but acts with innocence and pure intentions in the same way that the child does. I hope that in this way I can enter people’s hearts and make my ideas have an impact.

As an animator, I was inspired by many people and things around me. For example, as a child, I was inspired by a superhero that everyone loved. It was batman. I wanted to be someone that everyone notices. I was also inspired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed AlMaktoom. His vision and his goal to be always at the first place was very inspiring to me.

I was also inspired by things around me. For example, children. I love their personalities. They do whatever they want in an innocent way. They give me joy and the feeling of loving this life. Am also inspired by the Quote: Tomorrow will be better.

Something else also inspires me. Its a sentence that we all heard since we were children. Its a Quote from my favorite movie: HAKOONA MATATA, Which means when the world gives you its back , just walk away as well and give it your back. Everything will be fine.

Inspiration

The fist Project that was assigned to me was to discover the Program. After Effect is a really powerful program than can change all effects, colors, sizes, animation, scenes, texts, videos, and images.

After Effect

BriefWorking at Dubai TV gave me the opportunity to show my talents and skills. They gave me a push to my future. I had the chance to prove that I can take responsibility. They really helped me a lot in showing my talent. They mostly use After Effect and 3D Max. Since I had a background knowledge about 3D Max I decided to learn something new and work with After Effect.

This project was about creating a new kind of animation which I personally called Flying animation The logos of DMI floats through the

Project A was about creating lines and shapes. My idea was to combine those two elements and make them bond. I created Dubai’s Silhouette by using Lines.

Project D combined between the wiggle and the flying logos. This video is much more advanced because I added the background effect.

Getting lost in a network is very odd. I was inspired by the Network system that DMI have. I wanted to show the appearance of Screens inside the network. Basically reveal what the eyesight cant see,

This is my favorite project. I really feel that I became more familiar with After Effect and am comfortable in using it. This project is about silence in movement.

Your identity is who you are. Creating an animated scarf that has the illusion of colors of our flag flows in it was my job. This task was the hardest because it was my first promo to produce. The designer drew the man, I animated, my colleague Freddie made the background, and the topic was about blood donation.

This was an exiting project. My job was to create the cut outs of those actors and building. They gave me the pictures and I had to create a fine cut out of them.

This was my Favorite project. I really enjoyed working on this project because, I collected all what i have learned since I started working and applied them to this project. My vision was to create a scene that contains technologize screens. Each screen has a logo. I have 14 logos, so I created 14 screens. Each one with its shadow. I worked on each screen separately. Then, I created a null object and attached it to a camera. I had 4 scenes. So I created 4 nulls and 4 cameras. Each one had a different angel. Then i placed each one in order of its appearance. The first shot was about several logos and screens. The second shot was the same as the first shot but an opposite angel. The third shot was a horizontal shot that plays from right to left. The final shot was about showing the DMI logo in a large scale. Then I added sound effect that I have booked an appointment to create. I went over there and chose what I felt was nice. Then the man gave me my mix and audio file. I attached it to the video and rendered the whole thing. The result was an amazing video.

8/11/2012.. Thursday

So, today is finally Thursday. By know I started to know people more, know what to do, and have a back-ground image about my ideas. I showed Mr. Nassrallah my work that I did by the help of Faisal, but he said that this is not what he meant. He explained that I should create the animi it self not the logo. So I started all over again and tried to learn hot to animate texts and objects. I re sketched my storyboard and searched for more tutorials. Then, I came up with an idea. I should create the movement of the camera while the logos are floating by around the screen. I had some problems with coming up with new ideas, but later on this idea came up. Finally, by the end of week one, I started to learn how to use After Effect and combining some skills that I already know from illustrator.

Wednesday..7/11/2012

Starting yesterday in creating some elements helped me in finishing up my work quicker. Today I continued working on my animation and improving it. I added masks and layers. I became more familiar with using after effects. Although am still not sure about some things such as creating new compositions and merging them. Faisal helped me a lot and answered all my questions. He even gave me really good advices on how to create a motion while the video is playing. I also learned how to fix the settings of the video and make it a good quality. In DUBAI TV you are suppose to use the format of PAL not NTSC because its American. I had some difficulties because I didn›t know and I used the NTSC. So then I solved it by converting it into pal and scaling my icons and lines.

11/11/2012.. Sunday

Starting fresh and it’s the second week of internship. I went to work white I was really exited about fin-ishing up my animation. Today learned many things. I sat with Waleed and he taught me to create an affect on each logo I made. So I started adding a wiggle affect while my logos were floating in the screen. It gave them the sense of unbalanced movement with rising to the top. Then I started to refine my logos move-ment. I added a Null and a camera as well and attached them together. I also understood that as we have in 3D max something called the X Y Z axis, we also have it in After Effect. So I used them to move my logos. Then I started to play with the depth. I had some problems in making my camera move smoothly, but with Waleed’s help I created it in a correct way.

Sunday ..4/11/2012

Well actually it was a disaster. I didn’t sleep well last night. I woke up at 6 Am and went to work at the Dubai TV. I got lost and I had some issues with the security men. Am not allowed to park inside. So I had to park outside and take the Dubai TV car to take me to my building. I visited 2 offices. One office belonged to a man called Hassan AlHamadi. He was really sweet and tired to make me feel comfortable. He gave me precious information about being on the work filed. Then I visited another employer’s office and he was very sweet too. His name was Ali and he gave me my ID card. Then, he asked me to go down stairs and have breakfast until my boss comes. He is called Nasrallah. Then Ali took me to a friend that works here. Her name is Fatma Taymoor. I sat with her and we talked about working in Dubai TV and she said that she loves her job and she really feels comfortable in it. Then I went to my department and the people over there were very nice and they showed me my desk. So I sat and got my first project. It was about creating an animated logo for the DMI.

Monday..5/11/2012

I really felt bored and I had nothing to do since I don›t have a mac Pc to start doing my work. I went and asked for one. They told me to get my own laptop, so I did. Then I started to create a storyboard on paper. I used my iPhone to watch tutorials about creating animated logos. I sat for hours watching tutorials on how to use after affect. What I noticed that most of the staff here use after effect. So I thought that instead of using 3D max which am already familiar with, its better to learn something new, and I want to learn more about this program. I became friends with 3 employers, ali, faisal and one more guy I can›t remember his name. At my break, I went to ZU to take my laptop and downloaded boot camp, 3dmax, final cut pro, and after effect.

6/11/2012.. Tuesday

Today I went to pick up my laptop to start working on my DMI logo project. Ali showed me how to start and gave me good websites to have a look at them such as video copilot, meta cafe, and also youtube. I watched more tutorials and started to create some basic shapes and basic animi. I learned also how to combine between illustrator and photoshop with after effect. I noticed that combining those programs can gig out a powerful result. I came up with many ideas to create the new DMI animi logo. I started to trace a silhouette of Dubai City, and exported an outline. I chose the colors carefully and tried to match them up. Then, I started to play with the camera and null to make the shot flow. My partner helped me in some of the steps such as key framing my positions and scales.

19/11/2012.. Monday

I showed Nasserallah my work and he was really happy with what I have accomplished. He said that he could see the improvement in my work. He is really happy with my result. I showed him 4 videos that I created and he could see the process and how did it improve. I explained my idea on each video. He liked them all. He also said that he wants me to create animated logos through the time I spend here. Then directly he told me to start working on my next animation. I started to brain storm my ideas and think of something unique and creative. He asked me to try playing with elements and bond them with my logos such as shapes. I thought of using screens. Screens can be very powerful in videos. So I started to come up with different storyboards hoping to find the perfect idea.

20/11/2012.. Tuesday

Today I am really excited. My advisor is coming today to Dubai TV. I feel really nervous. I spent my day coming up with a storyboard. Then I thought of adding what I know the most. Which is 3D. So using 3D max will help me a lot in creating something new. I asked my advisor to give me the program so I can install it. Later on Mr. Rawool came and I showed him the place. Then we sat with Nasserallah and they had a private chat. Everything was great. Nasserallah said good things about me. Then Mr Rawool and we had .lunch together. Later on he left and I went back to work

21/11/2012.. Wednesday

So after all this work, I decided to create a new project about the logos. I sat and thought about something new and adding an element to my work. So as I said before, I will introduce screens in my video. I spent my day watching tutorials about creating screens. They I made a small screen based on the steps in the tutorial. Later on, I watched tutorials about adding a glossy effect on the screen. Then I watched a tutorial about making the surface under the screens reflect. Waleed as well showed me some of his skills in .flipping the screens

22/11/2012.. Thursday

Today I started to work on my screens and what ever I saw yesterday I tried to apply it on After Effect. I learned also how to duplicate layers and add strokes as an effect. Also I learned how to make lighting effects .that can help in making my animi more interestingI was working most of the day on getting my logos in the correct arrangement. The logos must be starting from the most important to the least important. Then I made two sets of screens. One is the actual screen and one is the reflection under it. So then I started to replace each logo and place it in its correct screen.

12/11/2012.. Monday

Today I was worried about meeting the deadline of my work. I thought of cutting some shots of my scene or even adding some extra elements for my clip. Then, when I thought about it, I found the beauty of my creation is the movement it self. Which is giving it more than enough of action. So I started playing with the motion and creating some blurriness logos at the back to give it depth. Having depth in the filed can give me a good realistic view. By attaching the logos and playing with the Z-axis I created depth. Also scaling some logos helped also in tricking the viewer’s eyes into noticing the depth.

13/11/2012.. Tuesday

As am approaching the deadline, which is tomorrow. As usual it started to panic. Today I worked at refin-ing my lines and finishing up my scene. Also Ali gave a lesson about the HD and SD. He also explained for me the correct sizes of the video and format sizes. He also explained for me the differences between them. Then I head back to work on my project. Watching it again and again showed me some simple mistakes in the sharpness, which I fixed. Also, I played with the logos to make them move and go back to their original place after they have floated. Then the idea was to make the DMI logo appear. This can happen if I used a mask. So I learned how to use a mask and attach it to my logo.


Today is my deadline and I am almost done with my Animation project, but I didn’t see my boss. As well, this week ended early due to the holiday, so this is my last day in week 2. Today I learned something called Alpha, which is the Black and white transparency used on masks to create a fade in and Out effect. It was very useful because, I needed it to show my DMI final scene logo. So basically my whole project was about creating an animation. My choice was to move the logos around the screen as if they are floating, then I cut into screen and zoom into some logos and show depth my using the animation. Then another scene ap-pears where they all gather in one place and stick in their correct place while the DMI logo is appearing. One more thing is left which is adding an audio to my video.

18/11/2012.. Sunday

After This long weekend I came back to work. My Boss was not here so I didn’t submit my animation. I texted him and told him that am done with my logo. So I sat and started to learn more about After Effect. I got to learn some new effects that might help improve my animation. Also, I gathered up my clips and ren-dered them all. The result was good, but I had some doubts about the fastness of my clip. It was really fast. So I went back to my lines and made them smoother and added more duration. I made it to 15 seconds. Then I pulled my lines and made gaps between them so it’s a little bit slower. Waleed also taught me on more effects such as adding grain and adding something called easy ease. Grain is added on the layer that has the background, which I chose to be the shades of grey. It gives it the scene of fading dots.

After this long holiday, we came back to work. Nasserallah gave me some instructions about a new project that he wants me to create. It was about creating a production presentation for some of the software’s that they have at work. He said that he wants me to imagine that he wants to sell them to the audience. That’s were I started to ask Freddie about some vocabulary that I didn’t understand. He explained for me the things I must know. Then I started my work. I searched about the subject online and I found many useful notes. I sketched a network and used it for guidance.


I spent this day studying my idea and creating some rough sketches. I also got the template and instructions on what exactly my project was about. This was the material:I need a presentation video of 35 secs of the post production facility we will have.The target audience is external customers who will use our facilities.

Today I started to make my storyboard. I have many thoughts. At the end, I was satisfied With creating a network theme that has a texture and a bevel that makes the energy floats through it. Then, ill add some illusions of screens. Also I had an idea about instead of having texts, ill show them as icons. The work is still in progress and hopefully ill finish it by next week.

I went through many new tutorials today hoping to learn new things. I love Vemoew.com, its really nice and it has many tutorials. Going through youtube.com and videocopilot.com is also helpful. I sat and watch tutorials for almost 5 hours. Then, I came up with an idea. I thought of using some elements such as smoke and light-ing. After all, I really want to learn new things. So I searched for some tutorials and flowed the instructions to learn how to make animated fake smoke.

25/11/2012.. Sunday

A week has passed, and we started a new week on internship. However, my project is finishing up really well and I am really exited about the results. Today, I was wrapping up my work and correcting some mistakes that I have made. Nasserallah pointed at some things that I had to fix and directly I corrected them. Then I was working on some final effects to add them with my ani-mation.

26/11/2012.. Monday

Today I realized that I made a mistake. I had the animation duration wrong. It was too long. I forgot that I had only 15 seconds of animation. I made 20, so that was wrong. So I was chopping some of the clips that I don’t need and wont affect the video. I have 4 animated clips joined together. So I cropped some dura-tion that wont affect the video. After I was done with cropping the video, I added some simple final effects. Finally I was almost done with this project.

27/11/2012.. Tuesday

Today, Nasserallah booked for me an appointment with the sound effect department. This was the only thing left to wrap up this project. I went and sat with Milton and worked with him on the sound clip. We mixed some sound clips and searched for much other sound effects. Then, I mixed it up with my video. I was not so sure about the sound clip. So I went and showed it to Nasserallah. He said that it is too much and its very metallic, while my video is soft and smooth. When I thought about it, he was actually right. So I went to Nasserallah and booked another appointment to fix my sound clip. I decided to add music instead of a sound effect. It turned out well and Nasserallah.


Finally am done with my project. I showed Nasserallah and he loved it and he complimented on my work. He said that I did a really good job and that I am getting better each day. I was done for the day.

29/11/2012.. Thursday

Today Nasserallah gave us a sudden project. we were all shocked in the department because he told us that the deadline is at the same day ! So we made a small team. Freddie, Mo’atasem, and me. Mo’atasem mission was to give birth to a unique idea for blood donation. Freddie had to do the background, and my job was to animate the local man with his UAE flag scarf. I was able to finish my work in 40 minutes. I faced many problems while finishing up my work. The sketch was not clear at all. So I had to fix the level of the lines and make it clear. I duplicated the layers because some lines were clear and some were already very dark. So I created 2 layers and fixed up the areas that were not clear. Then I made a scarf that is colored with red, green, white, and black just like the UAE flag colors. The flag is black and white, and the animation makes the colors flow through the scarf. The job was done and everyone was happy. Later on they added more details and changed some sketches and thoughts. At the end it was done.

16/12/2012.. Sunday

Done with all my projects that were given to me. So I started to collect all what I have created. Then I made a folder that contains all my folders. Plus I made a copy so I wont lose my documents. I organized my work and had everything in place. I watched all my videos and the total was 9 videos. I was happy because I spent a lot of effort in creating each one. Plus I had no idea about after effect and I leant so much here. I guess this score is really good as for an intern.

17/12/2012.. Monday

I had nothing to do for today. So I started writing my summery. Just before it start, I realized that I wanted to do something special. I remembered that they taught us how to use the In Design so I wanted to cre-ate a booklet that contains all my work as my portfolio. So I sat and collected all my texts and images + I captured all the process for each project.

18/12/2012.. Tuesday

I continued today working on my In design file. Creating something uniqe and getting extra grades for working has was my goal. I kept this goal infront of me and I starting creaiting my portfolio. I wanted it to contain everything I made. I also wanted it to be filled with documents and interesting at the same time.


Working on the in design was very tricky. I had to make sure that everything is correct. I also had to watch out for every line and every element that I attach. I got all my pictures cropped and in shape.


As we are starting to reach the end, I was so exited. Although its the last couple of days here at Dubai TV, I feel that I have learned a lot during this short period of time. I was looking at the Videos that i created and I was really proud of the level I reached, I noticed the improvement in my work. The work field is very differ-ent from being at the University.

10/12/2012.. Monday

As for what I did yesterday I started to create lightening effects. Since I love blue color, I decided to make my lightning blue. So I added some effects that can make my lighting better. I added them to my DMI logo. Then I added a smoke effect on the background, which will keep moving. It wont be distracting because, I lowered the opacity. Then I searched for some more effects that can bond between my 2 effects, I foundmany and I used them.

11/12/2012.. Tuesday

Today, I sat with Waleed and tried to give it a sense of 3D effect for the text. It worked but the textures didn’t stick with them. So it was a bad idea after all. We sat all day and tried to fix this problem but it didn’t work. We thought that maybe its due to the CS4 and we should use CS6.


Today I was finishing up my video, but I noticed that my text didn’t have any action and it was boring a bit. So I added some more animation. I added a Null object for each text and converted them all into 3d mode. Then I used the time line and slammed some text into the video. I also added some rotations to my texts and played with the depth to make it look as if it is far and its getting closer. I also did the opposite by making it close and go far. Then I added some masks and animated them. So now I have many text movements. I was happy about my work.

13/12/2012.. Thursday

Am really satisfied with what I have accomplished. I love the feeling that I get when am almost done with my work. Today I decided to render my work. So I saved it and called it (Glow). After the render was done, I went over the video and I saw that there are some mistakes. I went back to after effect and I fixed my problems. Then I rendered again. The result was very nice. The issue that I faced was that I had to watch out for the timings. I already had the audio file. So I had to place every thing in order according to the time. Each second counts. I started to count the seconds and based on that I placed my texts. Finally I was done.

30/12/2012.. Sunday

Getting everything in place and making plans for my presentation is my goal for this week. Am really happy that am coming back to university to show my work. I really feel exited. I almost forgot one thing. I had to finish my assignment for the Designing For The Web course. I went and asked for help from our IT depart-ment. They were very nice and welcomed me. Out IT department is called (The New Media). A man named Peer helped me. I told him my problem and he taught me how to fix it. I spent my morning over there.

Today, I had a new idea. Instead of making a power point, ill create an animation video that has all my foot-age in it. ill place each video in the correct place and create an animation that will blow the audience’s mind.

1/1/2013.. Tuesday

Finally, 2012 is over. Starting fresh, almost a graduate, and done with my internship. Those were the things I am about to accomplish. I worked today on my Video and got many ideas from Walid and Ali. Yesterday, they helped me a lot. We talked also about working after graduation and they gave me really good advice about being at the work felid.


Almost done with the internship. Am done with my video. I have everything in place, and nothing is left ex-cept waiting for tomorrow to come. I also asked Walid and Ali to assest me and write a paper about their opinion. I also asked them to be really honest and advice me, I also sat with Walid and helped him with his project.

Finally 3/1/2013 came. It was the last day. I thanked everyone for their help and had my last lunch over there. I also collected all my work and got all my texts written for the presentation on Monday.

23/12/2012.. Sunday

Today I sat with Ali and watched him create a new project on 3D MAX. His mission was to create an ani-mation of a soccer game. He created a scene that has an earth, that cracks open, then the whistle starts to blow. Then the match starts. today everyone was under pressure because they had deadlines by Wednesday. I continued working on my summery and collecting resources for it.

24/12/2012.. Monday

Today is Christmas. I wish if we had snow, but unfortunately we don’t. So, I decided to see some tutorials on how to create snow on after effect. i sat for 3 hours learning how to create snow. I understood that ev-erything had to do with the effect that you add and change some numbers to make the snow puffy. i had to play with the feathering of the snow element or ball to create this snowy effect. Then I sat with Walid and helped him finish up his projects.

25/12/2012.. Tuesday

NasserAllah went on vacation. I was done with all my projects. So I sat and started to write my summery. I wrote down notes and collected all my resources in one document. I used the summery guideline to help me. As for an extra credit and to think outside the box and create something unique. I created a book about my internship. This was the InDesign program that I was working on.


Finally, I was able to finish my Summery. I wrote 2760 words. I went to take some pictures for out building and asked to get some form and letters for my summery to attach Them. I went to the Main building and asked for some brochures.

27/12/2012.. Thursday

This is the last day of the week, and we have one more week to go. I decided to take a tour around the building and get to know more about the other departments. I visited the graphic designers and went to the production building. Then I came back to our department, which is located in building 3. Then I sat with Walid, and we watched music videos to understand the animation that some clips have. For example, in Michael Jackson’s music video (Black and White), they morph the characters together and change them into different characters that show up in the same place. The program that we worked on was called: Compos-ite. We searched for character and boned them together.

Amongallgroupsandfields,DubaiMediaIncorporatedachievedsuccessinitssoundandvisualfields.Itreachedtheentireworldandtouchedthesensesofviewersthoughitprograms,creativeposts,newideas,andfinallythroughtheeducationalspiritthattheypresent.Dubaimedia’sstrategicgoalistoreachasmuchArabaudienceastheycan.TheywanttheirmessagetospreadacrosstheArabworldwhichistopresenttheUAEandArabsinmodernizedway.Theyalsowanttospreadknowledgeaboutourcultureandsocietytotheworld.TheyalsowanttopresentagenerationofEmiratesthatarecapableofshowingtheirtalentsinMedia.Theyalsowanttogivebirthtodevelopment,achievements,andcreativeprojects.Theen-tireDubaiTelevisionisconsideredtoreflectthespiritofsimpleandoriginalideas.

Thentherealworkstarted.Igavemyprojectaname,whichIwas“Screens”.ThiswasmyfavoriteprojectbecauseIreallyenjoyedworkingonit.IcollectedallwhatIhavelearnedsinceIstartedworkingandappliedthemtothisproject.Myvisionwastocre-ateascenethatcontainstechnologizescreens.Eachscreencontainsalogo.Ihave14logos,soIcreated14screens.Eachonehasitsownshadow.Iworkedoneachscreenseparately.Then,Icreatedanullobjectandattachedittoacamera.IHad4Scenes.So,Icreated4nullsandfourcameras.Eachonehadadifferentangel.ThenIplacedeachoneinorderofitsap-pearance.Thefirstshotwasaboutseverallogosandscreens.Thecameraviewisfromfronttoback.Thesecondshotwasthesameasthefistonebutwithanoppositeangel,theviewofthecameraisfrombacktofront.Thethirdshotwasahorizontalshotthatplaysfromrighttoleft.ThefinalshotwasaboutshowingTheDMIlogoinalargescale.ThenIaddedsoundeffect.Ihavebookedanappointmenttocreateitwiththesoundsystemcrew.Iwentthereandlistenedtomanysoundtracks.ThenIchosewhatIfeltappropriateandmatchmyvideo.Thenthecrewgavememymixandaudiofile.Iattachedittothevideoandrenderedthewholething.Myresultwasanamazingvideo.MyformatwasamoviefilethatIsuitabletoworkwithanykindofvideoplayer.

AsforMygivenproject,IdecidedtolearnsomethingnewandworkonaprogramthatIneverusedbeforewhichisAfterEffect.IFeltnervoussinceitmyfirsttimeandIwantedtoshowmybest.SoIcre-atedananimationforthelogo.Iusedlinesandshapes.IalsousedthesilhouetteofDubai.FromthispointIstartedtocontinueandworkonallofmygivenprojects.Icreatedseveralprojects.Icalledthem:Logos,Floating,PopUp,RoundandRound,Screens,Networking,LocalMan,DIFF,andGlow.

II. Workplace Projects

Researchwasveryimportantfortisproject.Isatandthoughtaboutsomethingnewandaddinganelementtomywork.SoasIsaidbefore,Iwillintroducescreensinmyvideo.Ispentmydaywatchingtutorialsaboutcreatingscreens.TheyImadeasmallscreenbasedonthestepsinthetutorial.Lateron,Iwatchedtutorialsaboutaddingaglossyeffectonthescreen.ThenIwatchedatutorialaboutmakingthesur-faceunderthescreensreflect.Waleedaswellshowedmesomeofhisskillsinflippingthescreens.IstartedtoworkonmyscreensandwhateverIsawyesterdayItriedtoapplyitonAfterEffect.Ilearnedalsohowtoduplicatelayersandaddstrokesasaneffect.AlsoIlearnedhowtomakelightingeffectsthatcanhelpinmakingmyanimimoreinteresting.Iwasworkingthemostongettingmylogosinthecorrectarrangement.Thelogosmustbestartingfromthemostimportanttotheleastimportant.ThenImadetwosetsofscreens.Oneistheactualscreenandoneisthereflectionunderit.SothenIstartedtoreplaceeachlogoandplaceitinitscorrectscreen.(8)

IwasreallyscaredandfeltlostwhenIfirstcametotheorganization.Daybyday,Istartedtofitinandsitwithothers.Iwastheonlygirlbetweenmeninthecreativedepartment.Atfirst,Iwasreallyshy,butlateronIbecamefriendswithallofthem.Theyseemlikeafamilytome.Ireallycantwaittograduateandcomebacktoworkwiththem.AtfirstIhadsomeweaknesses,whichwereshyness,beingworried,feelinglost,havingsomedifficultieswiththeprogramthatIwasworkingon,andfinallybeingworriedaboutmeet-ingdeadlines.Ifixedallthoseproblemsslowlyandconvertedthemfromweaknesstostrength,Ibondedwiththemquickly,finishedtherequirementsontime,showingmycreativityandshowingthe(Leader)partofme.

-Academic Preparation

Ihadsomeperviouscoursesthathelpedmealottosurvivethisinternship.Theygavemesomeguidelinesbeforeenteringmyinternshipandbeingabletobesuccessfulintheinternship.SinceIamananimator,Ihadalreadytakenanimationcourses.Iusedmyvisionincreatingmyprojects.Mr.Rahultaughtmehowtoanimateon3Dmax.Healsotaughtmestoryboarding.WhileMr.StefanMassamtaughtmehowtobeadesignerandtobeagoodsketcher.Also,Ms.ColleenhelpedmeinvisualizingwhatIseeanddrawitonpaper.IalsohadacourseonhowtocreatevideoswithMs.Elizabeth.Shetaughtmehowtousefinalcutproandeditvideos.Mrs.YunsuntaughtmehowtocreateabookonInDesign.Allthosecourseshelpedmeinreachingthesuccessinmyinternship.IreallybelievethatifItookextracourseswiththoseteachersIwouldshowbetterresultbecause,illhavemoreknowledge.Ineedmoreanimationcoursesanddesigningclasses.

-Agency Involvement

TheuniversityprovidedformeallthetasksIneed.AllthecoursesItookgavemeanextrapushtobeabletocompletetheworkedassignedtome.Itookmanycoursessuchasanimation1,animation2,animation3,lightningandrendering,professionalartist,digitalvideo,drawing,painting,anddigitalillus-tration.Theywereallrelevanttasksformyinternshipobjectives.Aswell,theytrainedmewelltofacetheoutsideworld.Theyalsohelpedmeinfacingthefunctionofthebusinessworld.Also,theyhelpedmetoun-derstandtheworkfieldbycreatingmanymeetingstoexplainwhatisexpectedthroughtheinternshipperiod.

III. Internship Experience Evaluation

TherearemanyrequirementstobeamemberofDMI’sorganization.Firstofall,theemployeemustbecreativeandthinkoutsidethebox.Forexample,newideas,theabilityofcreation,givingbirthtonewideas,anddesigningareallimportantrequirements.Second,youmustbeunique.Forexample,apersoncanbeuniquebythewayhecomesupwithideas.Theyshouldbefreshandneverbeenused.Thirdly,theem-ployeemustbeorganized.Tobecreative,youshouldorganizeyourwork,files,ideas,andthoughts.Fourthcomeshonesty.Honestyisveryimportant.Youshouldneverstealsomeoneelse’swork.Youshouldneverplagiarizeandtakesomethingthatbelongstosomeoneelsebecause,itisagainstyourbeliefs.Youneverknowhowhardtheotherpersonworkedtocreateorcomeupwiththisidea.Itsverysimple,justputyourselfinhisplaceandyoucouldknowhowdoesitfeelwhensomestealsyouidea.Also,youshouldputinmindthatwhateveryouractionsare,itwouldaffecttheorganization’simageandreputation.

Thejobofthesupervisorandagencypersonnelistocreateandatmospherethatcomfortsthestaffandemployees.Theyshouldalsoconsidergivingdeadlinestokeeptheworkgoing.Theirroleisalsotoencouragepeopletoworkandalwayspushthemtoshowtheirbest.

Therearemanypositiveaspectsintheinternshipexperience.Themainaspectsare:theygiveagoodpracticeforstudentstotryandseetheworkfield,tobereadyinfuture.Thesecondaspectisthattheintern-shipteachesstudentstobondwithemployeesandgetanideaabouttheirjobinfuture.Thethirdaspectisthatstudentsmaylearnnewtechniquesfromtheplacetheirworkingin.fourthly,thestudentslearntoworkasindividualsandingroups.Fifthly,studentsfeelthattheyarematurenowandresponsible.Sixth,studentsgetmoreknowledgeabouttheirmajorandcangivegoodresultswiththeircapstoneproject.

Inaddition,therearesomepositiveaspectsthatoursponsoringagencycould’vedonetoimprovetheinternship.Theyshouldhaveameetingwitheachagencyandthestudentsinvolvedtogetthemtomeetbe-foreworking.Theyalsocouldtakestudentstoworkfieldsforstudentstobecomfortable.Thirdly,theycanalsoassignnumbersofprojectstobedoneby8weekssothestudentwontactlazyorgotointerninaplacethathasnothingtodowithhismajor.Fourthly,studentsshouldhavepermissiontovisittheirworkfieldbeforegraduating,tobecomfortable.Also,theagencyshouldgivemoredetailedinstructionaboutbeingontimeandcompletingtheworkassigned.

Asforme,IachievedmanythingssinceIjoinedasaninternattheDMI.Ilearnedtomeetdeadlines,becreative,showmybest,workasasingleandasgroup,Ilearnedtouseanewprogram,whichisAfterEf-fect,beontime,beresponsible,actasanadult,respectemployees,andappreciatewhatIhave.

Ihavesomesuggestionsaboutimprovingtheprocessofsecuringaninternshipassignment.Studentsshouldsignforumsonbeinghonestattheinternship.Alsotheyshouldhaveenoughknowledgeaboutusingeachminuteoninternshiptolearnnewthings.Theyshouldalsoaskstudentstowriteapaperbeforeenter-ingtheinternshipabouttheirexpectations,andthencompareitaftertheinternshipwiththesummerytheywrotetoseethedifference.MycoordinatorprovidedformealltheinformationIneedregardingtherequire-mentsforgettinginternshipcredit.Alsotheygaveusadetailedformabouttheexpectations,requirements,credit,andgrading.Zayeduniversityinternshipprogramjustneedstoconsideronething.Theyneedtovisitstudentsmoreintheirworkfieldandcheckuponthem.Alsotheyneedtoseetheirprogressalongwiththeinternship.

IV. SUMMARY (Self Evaluation)

Ilearnedmanynewskillsthroughouttheinternship.Ilearnedhowtoworkwithaftereffect.Ialsolearnedhowtocreateavideooutput.Also,Ilearnedtomeetdeadlines.Iwasabletocomeeverydaytoworkandbeontime,alsoIwasabletositefor8hoursinoneplaceandthat’samiracle.Ihelpedincreatingproj-ectswithWalidandAli.Ialsowrotemydailyjournaleveryday.Thereweremanytimesthatmybossaskedmetorecreatemyworkandthinkaboutitagain.Itookhisfeedbackanddidmyworkinabetterway.Ialsoprovidedthemwithideasandhelpedingivingthoughts.IwasactingpositiveallthetimesregardingthatIhadtodomyworkoverandover.TheresultthatIcameupwithwasforthebest.Iworkedwiththeirfeedbackandreachedthetargetthewant.Creating9videosin8weeksisconsideredtobereallygood.Icommunicatedwithothers,askedformorework,showedthemthatIwanttolearnmore,andshowedmypositivespirit.Iusedthetechnologytechniquesmixedwithsketchingonpapertogetthebestresult.IworkedindependentlyandaskedforadvisesfromWalid,Freddy,andAli.Theyhelpedmealot.Ihad2groupprojects.Ididthemontimeandsharedthemwithmygroupmembers.Theyreallylikedmywork.TherewasthisonetimethatSheikhHamdanBinMohammedBinRashedAlMaktoomcalledandaskedforaprojectandthedeadlinewasforthesameday.WeallcreatedagroupandIdidmyworkontime.Theyweresopleased.Iusedalltheresourcesgiventofinishupmywork.Ijustdidn’tlikethefactthatIdidn’thaveacomputerandhadtousemyownlaptop.Eventhought,Ihadtheaftereffectprogramanddidmyworkusingit.However,wheneveraskedifsomeoneisfree,andtheyneedhelp,Iwasthefirstonetojoin.IwantedtoshowthemthatIamworthgivingajobaftergraduation.IwashavingtroublesandfacingthembymyselfwithalittlehelpfromothersjusttomakesurethatIamontherighttrack.

Afterallthoseweeks,Ireallylearnedalot,actuallymorethatwhatIlearnedatasinglecourseinuniversity.Igotthechancetoshowmytalentandshareideas.AmsothankfulforthisexperienceandIre-allywanttoworkattheDubaiTelevision.IwantlolearnmoreandbethebestatwhatIdo.Mydreamtobeananimatorthatanimatesherwaytopeoplesheart.Iwantmyvoicetobeheardandbefamous.Iwillachieveitslowlybyworkinghard.Although,itismyfinalyear,Itisnottheend.Itisjustabeginningformybrightfuturethatillbuildbyworkinghardandbeingthebest.

PresentationI was inspired by the glow effects. My idea was to create a video that contains all the videos I created. I created glowing boxes that has many colors and inserted DMI logos in them. Then i added screens to show each single video that I did.
