DNS Download Site Tutorial There are two ways to access this site. One way is to go to: http://dairy.purinamills.com/ Click on ‘About Us’ and select ‘Online Services’

Click on the ‘Login Here’ link under ‘Dairy Business Software’

The alternative way to access the site is to go to dairydownloads.landolakes.com which will take you directly to the web page below. Enter your User ID and password on the login screen, then click ‘Continue’. To obtain a User ID and password to this site you need to fill out a DNS User Add/Change form and e-mail to Ed Beaver and Frank Standaert at Land O’ Lakes Purina Feed LLC.

Click on ‘Download DNS Data’

The look of the next screen will depend on how you are set up in the system and which plants you have access to. Each plant will occupy one row in the grid. Your brand access for each plant will be indicated by the presence of a check box in the respective brand’s column for ‘All Products’ In the example below, the user has access to LOL branded products for the Spencer (SPN) and Fond du Lac (FND) plants.

To Download All Products from a Plant: Place a check in the box in the ‘All Products’ column next to the desired plant and click ‘Submit’

There will be a short delay while the download package is prepared and then the following page will be displayed.

Click on the location indicated.

A ‘File Download’ window will open similar to the one above. Click on the ‘Open’ button. Some systems will have a reference to ‘Run from current location’ instead of ‘Open’, if that is the case, select the ‘Run’ option.

This window will then appear, click on ‘Continue’

The default location for your download will be shown next. Under almost all circumstances you will want to accept this default location and click on ‘OK’ The default folder for LOL branded downloads will be as shown: C:\Program Files\DLX LOL\Data\Dairy. The default folder for PMI branded downloads will be: C:\Program Files\DLX LOL\Data\DairyPMI. The actual downloaded file will be a Zip file whose first name will be your user ID in the download system.

When the download has been completed, this message will appear.

Click on OK. The rest of the procedure for updating your master ingredient file in DNS is performed by doing an Import within the DNS program. This procedure is described in the last section of this document beginning on page 11.

To Create or Change a Filtered List to use in the Download: From this page, click on the abbreviation of the plant for which you want to create or change a list.

If you had already set up a list, your current list will appear on this page. Prior to setting up a list, the page will look like the one below.

Click on ‘Select from All Products’ to change the contents of the list.

This list of all eligible products for that plant will be shown on the screen. To add a product to your list, check the ‘Add’ box next to the product. To remove an existing product from the list check the ‘Remove’ box next to the product.

When you have finished selecting the products you wish to add, click on the ‘Submit’ button.

You will then be returned to this screen showing you the current contents of your list for the plant selected. Once a list has been created, the user will have the opportunity to enter prices for the products if desired. These prices will then update the product in DNS when the file is downloaded. These prices will be saved until the user chooses to change them or when the product is deleted from the list.

When you are finished with your list, click on ‘Return to Main Menu’ and then click on ‘Download DNS Data’ again. When a list exists for a plant there is will a checkbox in the appropriate column for that plant. You can choose to check only the list checkbox, and then ‘Submit’ and only the products you have assigned to your list will be downloaded.

The procedure after clicking ‘Submit’ will be identical to those described on pages 4-5. Tips for easily locating products to place on your Filtered List When you have your products list up to select from, one option is to set a ‘Search for Type’ option which filters the list to only products of a specific type (e.g. Dry Cow, as shown in the figure below). After selecting a product type, click on the ‘Filter Products’ button.

To return to the full list of products, select View All in the Search by Type field and re-click on the ‘Filter Products’ button. Another search option is to place a description or part of a description in the ‘Search by Description’ field and click on the ‘Filter Products’ button (or press enter)

Only product descriptions containing the text you entered will be shown on the resulting list. To return to the full list removed the contents of ‘Search by Description’ and press enter. A third search option might be helpful if you know the Optium code of the product you are looking for. Press Ctrl-F on the keyboard and enter the code you are looking for and click ‘Find Next:’

If the product code exists in the list, it will be found and highlighted on your screen.

If a product is identified as a result of any of your searches and you want to add that product to your current filtered list, remember to check the Add box and click the ‘Submit’ button to add the product to your list.

Remaining Import Steps in DNS to bring download files into the DNS Master File In DNS, after having selected a customer, go to File Import Ingredients and Rations On the Import Rations from XF1 window, highlight ‘Master Files’ and click Next…

On screen 2 of 4, accept the defaults, change nothing and click on ‘Next’

You will then be asked to identify the import file. For an LOL brand import the program will automatically look in C:\Program Files\DLX LOL\Data\Dairy and for a PMI brand import the program will automatically look in C:\Program Files\DLX LOL\Data\DairyPMI. Remember the downloaded file will be a ZIP file with the name being your user ID in the system. In this case, DNSUSER.ZIP. Click on the file name and then click on ‘Open’

Depending on the number of products in your download, there may be a pause before being taken to screen 3 of 4. On this screen, just click ‘Next’

On screen 4 of 4, click on the ‘Import Data’ button and products will be imported. When the import has been completed you will be returned to the main screen in DNS.
