• This was caused by already toxic amounts in soil being washed over during the storm. Also, the houses in New Orleans are fairly old and have lead based paint that chipped off.

• Children were drinking the water that was contaminated

• How to fix the problem?– Researchers have suggested removing the first 2.5

inches of soil from contaminated yards.
