Quote from a webinar participant:

”In connection with the Go Online course I followed a webinar on how to make a wiki, a

blog and a discussion forum.

It was a very good supplement to the Go Online course because I quickly grasped technicalities

needed to get full benefit of the course.

The webinar format was excellent focusing on my individual problems. I could ask questions

and I saved a lot of time, because I could just sit in my office and follow the course”.

This workshop presents tools for live voting to be used in lectures or seminars in order for students to participate actively in the class.

During the workshop, participants will work with the web service PollEverywhere, which provides the same opportunities as clickers and other voting systems.

PollEverywhere requires, as opposed to clickers, only access to the internet and no particular hardware: The students answer through their own computers, mobile phones, or tablets, and the voting result can be shown live.

In this workshop, we focus on:

• Set up and organise questions• Run live voting?• Integrate live voting in PowerPoint?• Test the live voting?• Use peer instruction in connection with

live voting?

Tools:

• PollEverywhere.

The workshop consists of hands-on activities with PollEverywhere and a few joint instructions. Participants are required to bring their own PC or Mac and to have access to mit.au.dk and Blackboard.

How can I as a teacher have the students:

• Collaborate and communicate in groups in Blackboard?

• Collaborate on writing a joint text, problem analysis, definition, etc. in a wiki?

• Discuss materials or questions in a forum?

About CTL and Blackboard

The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is the educational research and development unit at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University.

CTL is responsible for the digitisation of teaching at Aarhus BSS through the implementation of the technical systems that support the achievement of Aarhus BSS’ strategy for blended learning.

The implementation of Blackboard at Aarhus BSS has taken place in adherence with the strategy that was discussed by the Dean’s Office in October 2012.

The 1st step has been for all students and lecturers to move to the new LMS and become fully familiar with the basic functions (Blackboard as post office).

The current 2nd step is a multi-year effort aimed at getting users to use Blackboard for educational purposes as part of blended learning.

Step 2 involves, among other things:• building up Blackboard as a learning

space• to involve Blackboard as a natural

part of the planning and conduct of educational activities

• to use Blackboard for learning activities between tuition hours

Read more about CTL and see all our offers for teachers at our website:

CTL also offers

• Courses on university teaching for teachers at all career levels at Aarhus BSS.

• Help on producing digital learning material in CTL Learning Lab.

• Inspiration and examples of good teaching on TREAT (treat.au.dk).

• News and articles about teaching and learning at Aarhus BSS.
