Sorting fields in Backup & Recovery Manager does not work as expected

    59913

Due to a known MongoDB issue where the MongoDB returns results using binaryrepresentation sort order, sorting on fields in the Backup & Recovery Manager does not

list items in the expected order.

You can view the MongoDB issue at https://jira.mongodb.org/browse/SERVER-105.

After launching online help, Backup & Recovery Manager times out on Google Nexus

    57614

While you read the online help, the Backup & Recovery Manager application remainsrunning in the background on a Google Nexus device. The operating system on the deviceterminates the instance of the UI after launching the help. This is often the deviceoperating system's attempt to protect against battery usage and will occur morefrequently if Power saving mode is enabled. When this occurs, you must log back into theapplication.

    2. Open Backup & Recovery Manager and export the certificate by clicking the lock iconon the browser tab and following the wizard.

    3. Copy the ucas cert that was exported and the . (under root directory) of the avamarserver in a single folder.

    4. Verify whether or not the certificate already exists in .keystorewith the following

    command:Keytool -list --keystore .keystore

    5. If the certificate exists, delete it by using the following command:Keytool delete alias ucashostname -keystore .keystore

    6. Import:keytool --list -importcert --trustcacerts -alias ucashostname -file

    47108

Backup & Recovery Manager displays the amount of data that has changed since the lastbackup, and the amount of new data. This is not equivalent to the New Bytes displayed inMCGUI, which is Data, Changed x New = New Bytes.

The Backup & Recovery Manager displays an actual representation of the percentage ofdeduplicated data.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 is slow to respond under heavy loads

    45599

When the Backup & Recovery Manager is under heavy backup activity loads, the InternetExplorer 8 browser can cause the following performance issues:

u Switching between Backup & Recovery Manager sections can take a long time andthe browser can appear as though it is failing to respond

u Pop-up alerts can cause a ghost effect

u Large reports are slow to generate chartsThese issues are caused by the JavaScript rendering engine included in InternetExplorer 8. The charting issue is the result of the way in which Internet Explorer 8supports SVG. The Backup & Recovery Manager uses SVG for generating charts.

    Workaround

To work around these issues, update to Internet Explorer 9+, or use a different browser forthe Backup & Recovery Manager.

    Changing the keyboard language

The Linux console on the VMware vSphere client uses a qwerty (US English) keyboardlayout, and many non-English languages use the azerty keyboard layout.

The /etc/vconsole.conf file configures the virtual console, including keyboard mapping.

Set the KEYMAP variable in the /etc/vconsole.conf file to the required language to changethe keyboard layout.

    NOTICE

Lists of the specific language codes are available online.

    For example:

KEYMAP=us (qwerty for the US English keyboard layout)

KEYMAP=be-latin1 (azerty for the Belgian language keyboard layout)

The kernel command line can also be used to override keyboard settings at boot. For

    example:

vconsole.keymap=de-latin1 (azerty for the German language keyboard layout)

    NOTICE

Depending on the operating system, other configuration files might be checked for

configuration of the virtual console as well. Check the specific operating system

    documentation for details.

Near the end of a Hyper_V or physical installation using ISO, the Backup & RecoveryManager server post install script displays a premature login prompt

After the initial Backup & Recovery Manager server installation has completed, thefollowing 4 post-installation scripts run:

    u 01_OS_post_script.sh

    u 02_BRM_UPGRADER_post_script.sh

    u 03_BRM_INSTALLER_post_script.sh

    u 04_CLEANUP_post_script.sh

While the 3rd script (03_BRM_INSTALLER_post_script) is running, the security patchinstallation of the new OS kernel displays a node:login prompt while the last of theupdates are applied. When the post-install scripts complete, a reboot occurs.

Disregard the login prompt and wait for the process to complete and reboot rather thanattempting to login at the prompt.
