INTRODUCTION
This guide is intended to increase the ability of those engaged in educationalresearch to locate specific information or sources of data.
Purpose and scope:
(1) To provide a framework for organizing basiceducational research materials. Sourcesproviding similar types of information aregrouped together in one of thirteen categoriesappearing in the left column of each page,thus offering guidance in search methodologyfor the beginning researcher.
(2) Many reference works in specializedareas of education, or in languages otherthan English, will not be found here.Only the most useful reference tools foreducational research found in the UTKlibraries have been included.
(3) Location of materials in UTK libraries isindicated by Library of Congress call numberand the following designations:

(4) Annotations, appearing in the right columnof each page, describe the character, scope,and usefulness of each title.
Hopefully this guide will serve to remove some roadblocks to educationalresearch, but maximum utilization of the library's research power maynecessitate additional assistance. Such guidance is available from theReference Librarians in both the Main and Undergraduate libraries.
