Narration script

Opening:In tonight’s episode we look at the world of SJA Youth. What does it take to become a Cadet with the skills to save a life? We find out through the eyes of those closest to young people and the teenagers themselves.

Middle: Throughout their time in SJA they can be taught how to deal with situations ranging from paper-cuts to punctured lungs, heat exhaustion to heart attacks or choking to CPR. With all the latest equipment learners can have an up-close and personal introduction to being the difference between a life lost and a life saved. With nearly 150,000 people dying every year where FA could have given them a chance, why wouldn’t you want to get in on the FA buzz?

But don’t worry, it’s not all about the high-intensity situations; a lot of the time the Cadets can be there to support and reassure patients. Being there to calm someone’s nerves is just as vital as bandaging them up.

Even though FA is a vital skill, it is not the only one. SJA trains young people in life-saving but also life enhancing skills like public speaking, conflict management, leadership and personal development.

Now it’s time to meet the team; the people who volunteer as Cadet First Aiders, Peer Educators, NCOs and more - they are the youth of SJA.

*Interviews added here. Further narration can be added to cover all important areas if necessary*

Ending: The future of SJA is in safe hands; this leading light of FA knowledge certainly has the driving force of youth behind them. These dedicated young people help to build the foundations of a wealth of knowledge and caringness. With all of the amazing opportunities to expand your horizons and learn new skills, why not consider SJA?

ConclusionMy intention for these questions/narration is to effectively discuss and delve into the world of St John Ambulance Cadets. They are there to give the audience a well-rounded look at what Cadets do. Some of the questions and/or interviewees may not make it on to the documentary itself but it was important for me to be prepared should I get the chance. Furthermore, the lists are not exhaustive so I may not use all of them and I could add some in on location. Some of them have been repeated throughout in order to get a well-rounded view of SJA Youth.
