Felicia Mabuza-Suttle Last Show

The above TV show host is saying goodbye to SA television screens. I will be forwarding all messages written about her by our members to Felicia on Tuesday, 23/03/04, 08:00. If you would like to add a comment or comments, please do so before Monday, 22/03/04, 16:00.

Here are some of the comments that will be forwarded to Felicia:

Phat Joe should grow UP, and Felicia's attitude qualifies for her to go Live in Zim.Ongopotse Motlhanke (Ex-Junior Member).

Well, I was told where to get off by some of you about me and SABC! I will continue with complains about SABC! I don’t know whether you know that they have decided to remove one of my favourite shows (Felicia Mabuza-Suttle Show), others call her “our Oprah”, call her whatever, but the fact of the matter is that the woman can deliver! What do you expect from SABC? Recently they ditched award winning consumer journalist Isabel Jones. Now Felicia Mabuza is moving to ETV. That’s right her debut show kicks of on the 7 March at 21:30.Wonga.Some of the quotes of Felicia are:

“It is not where you come from that matters but where you are going.”

Take time to listen to your inner voice. What is it telling you? Find that calm and quiet time and place and ask yourself questions – “Am I in the right relationship?” “Is my job draining me?” “Where is my life taking me?” Stop looking for answers far away. The answer lies within you. Most of the time we admire heroes far away, when the hero is inside you. All you have to do is believe in yourself.

Stay away from negative forces. Remember, a negative message repeated long enough results in someone believing in it. But a positive message repeated long enough makes you feel invincible.

That is why I start off each morning with this affirmation:

“I feel good about myself. I feel fantastic. I feel wide-awake. I’m ready to take on the world. I’m also ready to learn. I’m ready to burn because I’m fantastic, and yes I am somebody.”

Tribute to Connie

As you may know Constantia Manaka, known to many as Connie, resigned last week Friday. Leaving us shocked and confused. As the norm of the club before we can release her, we will pay tribute to this woman who came and left us in a short period of time.

Connie, Junior Member, joined the club on 11 February 2004. Deputy Group President and also Gauteng Governor, Ditaba Moeketsi, recruited this wonderful lady to our club, but she decided not to continue with the group. Her reasoning was “When joining the group/club, I had a different picture in mind (based on info I had on hand @ the time). I fell in love with the idea of the club and the few people I managed to hear from and get to know a little bit. Even though the club is great, I had something bigger in mind.” For more details see her exit application form.

As the Chairman, Editor, and Founder of Wowo’s Club, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Connie for her valuable input and comments during her stay with the club. The club will definitely miss you and please keep visit us on our web and via e-mail. You know my numbers when you change your mind (082 9260390 or 012 6650991) again!

Let us look at some of the comments you have made during your stay with the club:

Ok Wongs’, look at it this way: Imagine giving all men the secret key to a woman’s heart! This might not be the key but u know what they say, “small change is better than no change”. I mean, the woman cried for heavens’ sake!

Ok Wongs’, I give up. I only thought It might benefit those guys who would love to have that kind of an effect on women and also, personally’ curious because I don’t see what you can get from a ‘client’ as a thank you gift that will possibly make one cry!

After all, parenting is not about ‘biology’ it’s all about love, security, trust, stability and so on and so forth! Being a complete person doesn’t include knowing whose womb you originate from. Bottom line: The choice to tell a child whether they are adopted is all up to the legal parent.

We must keep in mind that Xmas is a Christian holiday, and if we are going to give Christian’s special preference, then lets do it for everyone, lets close the shops for each and every religious holiday to cater for all.

You will all remember that Connie has invited us to her party on 1 May 2004. This day will serve as a celebration for Wowo’s Club in turning 5 years old. We therefore urge you to join us on these celebrations.

I salute you Connie! Never forget to tell your friends about Wowo’s Club!

Chairman’s Position On The Late Brenda Fassie

It is very outlandish that many people in South Africa are now so shocked and confused by the sudden death of Brenda Fassie.

I think we never celebrated Brenda while she lived. It is an embarrassment that now we are so poignant that she is gone, while we never showed support before and during her illness. We never showed her support Shareholders: Nomonde Ntshinga (14), Brandley Ngcobo (7), Wonga Ntshinga (7), Victoria Molapo (4), Ditaba Moeketsi (1), and Ella Seipato (1). while she was struggling in her fight against drug abuse. We never showed her support when she had difficulties in her marriage, let alone her continues breaking affairs.

As the nation mourns Brenda, I say we deserve it! We deserve a situation where God might have sad “these people are not celebrating a national treasure!” There is a rumour that Brenda was celebrated more in other countries than in her own country!

We read nonsensical material about Brenda and we never did anything about it. We saw her struggling against drug abuse and we never did anything about it.

Most of all, when she was fighting death in Sunninghill Hospital, we did not do anything! How come we did not buy her flowers as the club? How come we did not go and visit Brenda for a short prayer while she was at hospital? How come no one responded to my invite to send a fax to Brenda?

As the Chairman, Editor, and Founder of Wowo’s Club, I say we have failed Brenda!

I was informed just before she died, Brenda cried. I am sure it was tears of sadness because we left her to die on her own!

Brenda fought death for almost two weeks. That is how strong she was. Her death will always be a reminder to me that we, as Wowo’s Club, did nothing for her!

The question is what are you doing now to honour the spirit of this Diva?

Announcement Of the World Cup Bid 2010

At 21:35:29 on 14 May 2004, our Member of Defence and Intelligence, Pepsi, wrote, “CEF please give us your words of wisdom before the bid announcement.”

And I did and I got it right! The night before the announcement I sent SMSs to members of the Senate of Wowo’s Club that I had been tipped by a reliable informer in Zurich that we are going to win the bid! My SMS was following the Eastern Cape Governor, Rolphy Matloum’s, uninformed e-mail that stated, “Morocco will win the bid”. Prior to my SMS, you will remember that I wrote to you and stated, “Unlike Rolphy, I will tell you now…SA is going to win it this time!”

The Chairman of the Bid, Irvin Khoza’s speech, impressed me during their presentation to the FIFA Executive.

And TUT (Tshwane University of Technology) came to a standstill at about 12:18 on 15 May 2004. We had an Open Day but at that minute when the announcement was made the university visitors and students jumped with joy, cried with joy, they were so happy you had to be here to see it! The Vuvuzelas were so noisy I could not hear what Nhlanhla Jiyane (Ex-Member) was saying over the cell. She was the first one to

I kindly request our President to make an official statement that will be uploaded on our website. The e-mail of Rolphy will be removed as soon on our website…

As the CEF of Wowo’s Club, I would like to take this opportunity to thank my hometown boy, Danny Jordan (CEO: Bid), for bringing this one home…The peoples of the Friendly City are proud of you!

MaBrrr

On 27 April 2004, South Africans celebrated their 10 years of democracy. She could not join the South Africans on this day as she was fighting for her life in Sunninghill Hospital. However all those who came to the Unions Building Celebrations heard her music being sung.

Eighteen days later, the South Africans celebrated yet again another success. This time South Africa was granted the right to host the World Cup 2010 by FIFA Executive. During these celebrations, her music lived on. Her music was played, more especially the song that made her, “Weekend Special”. Indeed this was a weekend special for South Africans and Africans at large as this event could boost the economy of South Africa and southern regions.

In six days to come, MaBrrr, as she was known to many, will be laid to rest. We will never see her again…

Today, we are looking back at some of the comments made by the people I known about this pan-African “griot” as President Mbeki termed her (you may also send your messages thru’ to me):

“Her soul is resting at last! That’s one person who has lived her life to the fullest.”Andisiwe.

“That is sad. To date, herself and Chicco were my favourite musicians. It’s sad.”Johannes.

“Most of all, when she was fighting death in Sunninghill Hospital, we did not do anything! How come we did not buy her flowers as the club? How come we did not go and visit Brenda for a short prayer while she was at hospital? How come no one responded to my invite to send a fax to Brenda? As the Chairman, Editor, and Founder of Wowo’s Club, I say we have failed Brenda!”Wonga.

“As for me this seems unreal, I loved Brenda the very first time I heard her sing in December 1983 on a Saturday just before the 7pm news.  She was singing Weekend special, a song that will never die! “Thokozile.

“God bless her soul, maybe the so called high society will recognize her place in the arts. A true legend who was outcast and neglected.”Rolphy.

“These are sad news indeed. Brenda was an icon and she excelled in hermusic. I think Lindiwe Fassie can give us something similar to the musicand unique voice of Brenda (remember Lindi sang a tribute to ArthurMayisela and Paul Ndlovu together with Chicco). Brenda will be missed dearly.”Victor.

I am pleased to tell you that we have finally made it! It is 7 years together as a family. It all started on this day in 1999 with an e-mail that had the subject Event of the day. This was later replaced by the acronym EOD. Early this year, this acronym was replaced with Wowo’s Club Newsletter (WCN).

I can still remember the members in 1999 when we started, they were (some have left the club though) Bathabile Mthethwa, Brandley Ngcobo, Patrick Otto, Johannes Nakana, Michelle Du Sart, Paula Makwea, Lundi Sishi, and Sibongile Mahlangu (got married – now known as Mguda).

Today, the club is composed of 14 members, governed by the Senate (see list below), and a President. The club has its own motto created by our Ex-Member Bathabile Mthethwa that reads, “Wow don’t be a number, be a member”. Bathabile went further and also designed our logo of five people dancing. Today this logo appears on our business cards, calendar, our forms, and our pamphlets.

Today, the club has two well-developed websites, http://members.tripod.com/ntshinga, managed by our new webmaster Jabu Mtsweni, and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wowowsclub. The club has two e-mail addresses [email protected] or [email protected]. These e-mail addresses have the following features:

We have a bigger mailbox and the ability to send and receive up to 10MB per message. We can now sort our incoming messages into different folders (or to Trash). We can also block mail from up to 200 unwanted senders. Our attachments will be safe for downloading - anything coming from Wowo's Club is protected by Yahoo Mail Plus!

This is all because of members who have ensured that this club succeeds.

Today, the club has an Official Calendar, Proxy Form, well-developed policies, term of serves, and constitution. The club has two well-developed application forms for those who are interested in joining us. The club has Shareholders, Nomonde Ntshinga (14 shares), Brandley Ngcobo (7 shares), myself (7 shares), Victoria Molapo (4 shares), and Ditaba Moeketsi (1 share). I am confident as time goes on we will have more shareholders…

Today, the club has a mission statement, an intellectual property of Gauteng Governor Ditaba Moeketsi, “To entertain, advice, teach, and grow together. To be the Best we can be in everything we do!” Ditaba was declared the Best New Comer in 2003 Wowo’s Awards.

The club has discussed over 184 questions in these seven years on QOW (Question of the Week). An indication that this club keeps members talking. Our visitors can see all these questions on our website (http://members.tripod.com/ntshinga).

Today, the club has honoured four members with the title Honourables. They are Jerry Sereme, Lerato Mohaule, Siyabulela Mooi, Joseph Ramaisa Khoanyane, and Johannes Nakana for their contribution on the Quotes of the Year (QOY).

Today, the club has honoured a number of members on Wowo’s Year Awards (WYA), an event that is held annually. The biggest honour on these awards is the Life Time Achievement Award (LTA). This award is given to a member who is a pillar, a mainstay of this club. A member who has shown commitment to the group by bringing towers of strength. A member who has dedicated his/her life to the existence of this group, and brought sparkles to this group over the years. There are currently only two members who have received this honour; they are Bathabile Mthethwa, Pastor Sivuyile Hlam and Johannes Nakana.

Today, all members of Wowo’s Club receive EOD almost daily, QOW almost every week, QOM every month, QOY every year. That is how exciting this club is.

Today, all members of Wowo’s Club are invited on a numbers of occasions with invites like parties, lunch etc.

On health issues, today the club has a Consulting Nurse Ntsebo Miriam Moeketsi who takes calls from any member of Wowo’s Club regarding any health issues. Today, the club has Doctor Weighless Nomonde Ntshinga who assists members with their diet.

Today, the club has an Internal Investigation Committee handed by Ditaba Moeketsi to investigate any disputes within the club. This committee has also been given the mandate to investigate when members leave the club. Having said that the ICC has made a conclusion that all the members who have left the club have done so for their personal reasons. They are leaving had nothing to do with the club. This is an indication that we have done absolutely nothing wrong except accommodate everyone in this club.

The above text is an indication that we have come a long way. The club will continue to make friends all over the world. It is a duty of me and you to ensure that our club grows, not only in numbers, but grows in making us more human, kinder, more educated and highly spiritual.

My idea of this club was to ensure that wherever you land, you would find a warm, carrying and reliable Wowo’s Club Member (WCM). A classic example is the trip made by our Eastern Cape Governor Rolphy Matloum to former Free Governor Matsepo Makepe just for a hug…Matsepo was nominated as the Best New Comer and Most Amusing Member in WYA 2004. While her counterpart has been nominated Best Member of the Year in WYA 2004.

As the Founder of Wowo’s Club, I would like to take this opportunity to thank each an every one of you for making my dream a reality! I am proud of us! I hope and trust that you will stay with us for the next five years…

A special thank you goes to our Royal Members who have been with the club since its inception. They are Honourable Johannes Nakana, the Honourable Lerato Mohaule, and Royal Member Patrick Otto (Most Amusing Member – Wowo’s Awards 2002/3).

In celebrating this day, I kindly request you to take us back. Tell us what do you love about this club? Tell us about some of the topics that you enjoyed…what has made you to stay so long…what do you think we should improve on?

Do not forget the celebrations of this day will be held at Johannes’s house summer time.

I leave you with a message that was written by our former Group President Brandley Ngcobo on my birthday few years ago:

“Very few people actually take the time and step to doing something. You have gone beyond that. Not only did you start something but also you have kept it going for so long. That to me is passion and will power. You have brought people together, you got them talking, you got them to meet at some stage and you tried to couple them at some detour of this journey. You have taught people to laugh, to think and to speak their minds. You have made them enjoy the little that they do and give to this group. You have moulded and grown this group to what it is today. Meneer, all I want to say today is thank you. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being there. Thank you for caring. Thank you for all your time, contribution and effort. May you be blessed beyond this day and may the rest of your days be filled with as much joy as you have given.”

I kindly request the Group President to make an official statement regarding this day. The statement will be published on our website.

Way Forward In Wowo’s Club

Yesterday, we celebrated five years of survival of this club. We looked back at some of the events that took place during those five years. Today, I want us to look at the road ahead and some future events that will take place.

The first event will be the finalization of the new Senate. We will firm up the Senate on 28/05/04, 16:00. On this day we will appoint a Group President and Deputy Group President. By the looks of things, it seems like Victoria and Johannes will take these positions respectively.

I will definitely be delighted for both of them, but more particularly blissful for Victoria because for the first time in the history of Wowo’s Club we will have a female President elected by majority. This will definitely send a message that Victoria did not get the position by default after the departure of Brandley in previous

year. It will also send a message to those who wanted this position, that there is no better person for the members of Wowo’s Club than Victoria. The members have spoken!

Victoria will be our elected President up until the next elections, which will take place in May 2005. During this time, I am hoping, that our President will walk the talk. I hope she will continue and write more to us as she has done in the past. You will remember that our website has a webpage that reads, “Office Of The President”, where all her speeches can be downloaded. Our website has all the speeches made by the previous President Brandley Ngcobo as well. I urge members to visit the website (http://members.tripod.com/ntshinga).

Another event that is on the cards is the celebrations of our club. This event will take place at Ditaba’s house. See event 2 below for more details.

I am also in the process of meeting Ditaba next week in an attempt to listen to his business proposal for the club. I hope and trust that we will have a fruitful meeting.

Another event that is on the cards is the meeting of Rolphy and Matsepo in East London. I also hope we will have a detailed report on this.

Another event that is also on the cards is the finalization of Wowo’s 3rd Year 2004 Annual Awards. The race there is so hot you cannot believe. If you have not yet seen the nominees, please let me know…I will forward you the list ASAP. The results of these will be announced at Ditaba’s House. Please attend this event.

On 1st of June we will have our Website Photo Competition in memory of Mmathuto Motaung. This competition is another attempt to ensure that our members upload their photos on our websites.

But the event that everyone is looking forward to is the meeting with our State President Thabo Mbeki. I am working day in and day night to ensure that we get to meet our President. Watch this space…

We will also continue to celebrate the birthdays of all members as the year closes on us.

I am hoping that you will join us on all the above events in ensuring that we continue to be a united family!

Africa Day

Yesterday our MDI Pepsi Ndelu reminded us of the above day. The new appointed MICT went further and requested our President to make an official statement. We are still waiting for that statement.

Now, I have decided to also write to you regarding this day and I hope you will take some time to read it and comment:

We need to always remember that we are Africans. We need to always celebrate that. We owe our being in the jungle forest of Congo. We owe our being in the Nile River. We owe our being in the African sun. We owe our being in Sans and Khoisans. We owe our beings in the cities and towns of Adis Ababa and Qunu respectively. We owe our being in the millions of Africans who were transported out of Africa and settled in other parts of the world as slaves. We owe our being in the sons and daughters of Africa – King Shaka, King Cetshwayo, Nkosi Bambata, John Langalibalele Dube, Tambo, Charlotte Maxeke, Lillian Ngoyi, Nkosi Albert Luthuli, Nkuru, Patrice Lumumba, Mandela, Sisulu, Tutu, Mbeki, Hani, Biko, Eduardo Mondlane, Olusegun, Sara Baartman, Obasanjo, and Abdoulaya Wade.

Africa today is free. She is free from colonial masters. She is free from apartheid. She is free from the cancer of racism and racial arrogance. She is free from imperialist domination. She will soon be free from all the wars, poverty, and underdevelopment.

She will rise like a new penny and be a safe heaven for all of us. She will rise and be free from all these diseases, including AIDS. Africa’s time has come!

But all these are possible if we “Africans” do something about it. We need to improve Africa. We need to ensure that our African brothers and sisters have access to clean water and are not dying of hunger, TB, malaria, or AIDS. We need to support each other as Africans. We must stop being ignorant. We need to support AU, NEPAD and SADC. We need to rise and walk the talk. We need to ask ourselves questions like, “what can I do for Africa, rather than what can Africa do for me.” This is a twist on a well-known quote. Let us have our “African dream” too. We need to be the Ambassadors of Africa.

I don’t know whether you have noticed how I close EOD in our days. I use the same quote by our State President Thabo Mbeki that reads, “Today, it feels good to be an African”

Africa is our land. We need to ensure that our land is ours forever. We need to preserve our land. We need to plant in our land. Do you have a plant at home? Do you have a tree at home? Do you wakeup in the morning and smell the fresh air and thank our ancestors and our African gods for looking after us? We have beautiful skies and clouds! Do you have a friend in Africa? We need to stop referring to our brothers and sisters as “amakwerekwere”.

Did you know that we have a Governor in Nigeria by the name Jerry Sereme? Which part of Africa have you recently visited?

Let us unite and fight the evils that are attempting to destroy Africa, because by destroying Africa, they will be destroying us!

Nkosi sikelel’ iAfrica! Go bless Africa!I am also an African, so are you!

Tribute to Johannes As you know yesterday we got an e-mail from our Honourable Member Johannes Nakana who shocked us by declaring his abrupt resignation with immediate effect.

As soon as I got that e-mail I requested our Head of IIC, Ditaba Moeketsi, to follow it up with an investigation as we always do with resignations within the club.

The resignation of our Honourable Member Johannes Nakana comes not much of a surprise to me because not long time ago he resigned from his two Senate positions.

One cannot help but wonder if this resignation has to do with the recent e-mails going back and forth where different opinions were expressed by me and Johannes respectively regarding the club position, the invite that he sent, his ceremony, the members of Wowo’s Club stand etc.

I would like to inform the members that whenever Wowo’s Club looses a Royal Members (members who have been with the club for 3 years) I get hurt personally, because I know that I am loosing a loyal member. So, I usually take the initiative to find out what could be the problem with the person resigning. So, I called Honourable Johannes on my way back from the office (at about 19:40 or so) last night. My cellphone does send my number through, so Johannes knew it was me who was calling. He did not answer my call. Having not answered my call, Honourable Johannes has not yet returned the favour. Honourable Member Johannes knows my landline…he has not yet called my landline.

Let us assume that Honourable Johannes is not happy with my leadership within the club, which I think is one of the reasons why he is resigning, surely quitting will not help us! Assuming I said “something” that he did not like, keeping quiet and not informing me about it is also not helping us.

I find it very complex that as the Chairman I am not going to be allowed to voice my opinion simply because members are going to threaten me by saying they will quit the club or they are quitting. Surely this is not fair? I mean can you imagine if I also did that? That is each time I disagree with a member I threaten to resign…that will not be and ideal environment for such a club? Why can’t we learn to agree to disagree?

Having said all the above, I do not think I can change people’s mind. I cannot change the way they think, but I can attempt to influence their think. Johannes accused me of “opposing things without asking what members think.” He went further and stated, “No wonder why you have such a big silence within the group.” To me these were hurtful, disturbing, and serious accusations.

Johannes is entitled to his opinion, but what he stated is, and I still claim, is very untrue. I know he might be angry with me, and hence his irrational decision.

As we say goodbye to Johannes, I would like him to exit Wowo’s Club with a statement that was made by Ramaisa Khoanyane (North West Governor), “Wonga is another person with opinion and judgement despite his position in the group. Let him say his opinion and pass out his judgement. How can an individual make you resign from the group. The rest of us may have a different opinion from Wonga. Keeping quite is their right. “

With that we salute Honourable Johannes Nakana. And I will be lying if I am going to say we are not going to miss him…We still miss for example Connie, Brandley, Bathabile, Nhlanhla, and Thokozile to name but a few. And I still hope and continue to work hard, day and night, in ensuring that they come back!

Dr. Nelson Mandela’s Birthday

Yesterday the above mentioned person celebrated his birthday. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of some of the comments made about him on this club by members:

About the Mandela Day on the our calendar, the following members had this to say:

The man is "big". I mean big in every way. He is a pioneer a born leader a believer in goals dreams and ideals not only his own but of other people. I believe he is the reason who are so liberal and free and even know that we have rights too. We can never do enough to thank him. If it a day in a calendar I say so be it.

B.

In fact He is worth the whole week.Regards,Ramaisa

Well, what I am implying is that he has been a tower of the nation and it is almost impossible to offer him what he is worth. I think it should be a day before freedom day.Regards,

Ramaisa

I wouldn't mind having Nelson Mandela's Day in South Africa declared as a public holiday and that special day should be his date of birth. The government should scrap Christmas Day and Good Friday

as public holidays because Christians are the only people that are benefiting and it is unfair because Christianity is not the only religion in Azania.

RegardsJerry

I can do with Mandela; Ramaphosa; Terblanche; Shaka; Sekhukhune or even Steve Tshwete holidays but I think the holidays we have are "okay"Enjoy you day!Johannes.

I think we have enough holidays. As much as I think Madiba is a livingSaint, I don't think we need another holiday. Mpume

That shouldn't be a problem, but I don't think we need anther one. We needto work and kids need to go to school. Another holiday will be a waste oftime.Mpume

I do not understand why people celebrate Jesus Christ and refuses to celebrate for Mandela!Wonga.

To celebrate Christmas is a decision that was forced upon us. My point is, Idon't mind having a day to celebrate Mandela but we don't need anther publicholiday. Changing Youth day or any other public holiday to Mandela day isfine but my point is NOT to add to the already many public holidays we have.Mpume.

Thanks to the Divine force that Mandela is a Saviour, much better than Jesus and he deserves a public holiday world-wide.RegardsJerry

Those of us from that generation, who are singled out to stay the longest, have to bear the pain of seeing our comrades go.Dr. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (Non-Member).

In closing, I would like to share my poem with you. I wrote this poem just after I finished his book, Long Walk To Freedom:

ROLIHLAHLA NELSON DALIBHUNGA MADIBA TATA MANDELA

From prison to Parliament. From prisoner to President.
