Process description

Paper uploaded 1 week prior to the presentation

• Work-in-progress papers, R&R, maybe even rejected papers as well as idea papers?

Approx. 60 minutes for each presentation, incl. Q&A

• This is the usual format, but PechaKucha, for example, also considered

Mechanisms supporting publication after the presentation?

• Not sure if needed, but would be nice to support the process even after the presentation

Presentation format + atmosphere• Each presenter is allocated 60 minutes

• 30 minutes presentation + 30 minutes Q&A• Up to the presenter to use the time as they see fit

• Open, encouraging, positive atmosphere• Anyone can join the presentations• “How can we improve the paper?” not “What is wrong in the paper?”• Multiple perspectives (‘disciplinary voices’) enable us to gain additional depth into

our papers

• DoD research seminar as a living organism • evolves according to the community’s needs + we experiment with best

practices identified inside and outside Aalto University

• Ideas for improving the seminar concept• -> [email protected]
