The Department of Defense’s Unique Identification program is designed for the management and tracking of personal property, real property, personnel, and roles. Item Unique Identification (IUID) is part of the UID program which focuses on DoD’s personal property.

The Brady DoD UID System, including thermal transfer printers, software, barcode scanners, a verifier, and on-site training, ensures that you can meet your UID labeling needs. Brady has created the following DoD UID System packages with everything you need for DoD UID compliance.

Item Unique Identification (IUID) is a mandatory

DoD requirement for all solicitations issued on or

after January 1, 2004.

How it works: Qualifying items are marked with

a permanent 2-D Data Matrix that is encoded

with the Unique Item Identifier (UII). The UII

contains unique data elements, including the

enterprise identifier (assigned by a Registered

Issuing Agency), a serial number and/or a part

number to identify an item. The 2-D Data Matrix

is marked on items according to MIL-STD-130N.

The UII is then stored in the IUID Registry.

According to MIL-STD-130N, Unique Identification is to be as permanent as the life of the item being identified. Brady offers a variety of label materials that provide outstanding performance in any environment. Suggested materials listed below meet UL Approvals. Other materials and sizes are available for UID labeling.
