100 MalesAges Between 25-50

100 FemalesAges Between 25-50

Experimental Design

Take the 200 males and females and split them up by gender, 100 males and 100 females. Compare how thick their leg hair is. Randomly assign both genders into 3 groups. Group 1 shaves their legs once at the beginning of week one, then wait 2 weeks, group 2 shaves their legs every other day, and group 3 doesn’t shave for 2 weeks. Compare the thickness of their leg hair before the experiment and 4 weeks after the experiment is over.

Treatment

Group 1: Shave legs once at the beginning of week one, then wait 2 weeks

Group 2: Shave legs every other day for 2 weeks

Group 3: doesn’t shave for 2 weeks

Randomization

We split the subjects by gender. Each of the males will get a number 1-100 by alphabetical order. The first 33 picked from a shaken hat with the numbers 1-100 will go to group one, the next 33 picked from a shaken hat with the numbers 1-100 will go to group two, and the last 34 will go to group 3. Numbers picked will not be put back in. This process will be repeated by the females.

BlockingWe used blocking by gender of the subjects because males and females hair grow at a different rate. This will give the best conclusion if hair could come back thicker after being shaven.

BlindingBlinding will be used on the observers so they will not know what treatment the subjects are getting. This will make this experiment less bias. The observers will be given a picture of before and after and will be asked to think if the hair came back thicker after being shaven.

The subjects may forget to shave when asked to

The subjects cutting their legs while shaving

Control Group that didn’t shave their legs. This

will give us a baseline idea of what the thickness of the hair will look like without being shaven.

Replication In the experiment replication should be

done. The experiment should be done multiple times. This will give you the most accurate conclusion as possible.

Conclusion

After shaving leg hair numerous amount of time, leg hair will/will not come back thicker. We will find out whether or not the saying “Does Shaving Your Hair Make it Grow Back Thicker?” is a true or false statement
