RAANANA - QUALITY OF LIFEOF THE FIRST ORDERThe story of Raanana begins in April of 1922, with the arrival of the first pioneers, members of Ahuza Alef - New York to Raanana, in order to establish a new settlement. During its initial years, Raanana epitomized the idea of working the land and its settlers were involved in various branches of agriculture.

From the 1980s, when Raanana became a city, it has grown to become one of Israel’s leading cities, with a population of 80,000 residents, spanning an area of 15,000 dunams. Raanana is a thriving city situated in the heart of the Sharon region and is a microcosm of Israel’s multicultural society. Most of its residents are native Israelis, living alongside many immigrants from all over the globe.

Raanana’s community cherishes values of mutual respect between all sectors of the population, collaboration, volunteer activity and a high level of civic involvement of its residents in a variety of municipal fields of endeavor.

Raanana boasts achievements in all fields of life and has become one of Israel’s most sought-after places to live, thanks to its highly developed and sophisticated level of services and superior quality of life. Raanana’s education system for all grades is exceptional, thanks to its groundbreaking educational programs, afterschool activity program and extracurricular enrichment activities offered in the afternoon and evening, and attended by thousands of children and teenagers. The city features high quality and diverse cultural institutions, infrastructure and state-of-the-art sports facilities as well as a thriving business complex for companies engaged in the field of hi-tech and other fields. There are 100 public parks and gardens scattered throughout the city. The city’s crowning jewel is Raanana Park, spanning 250 dunams and serving as the focal point for Raanana residents and visitors. The park features an outdoor amphitheater for national and international musical and cultural events.

The Municipality of Raanana places the quality of service it offers to its residents and businesses at the top of its municipal list of

priorities. It considers investment in development and upgrading of its services of utmost importance, while ensuring a high level of satisfaction both among residents and businesses located in its vicinity. The municipality ensures accessibility of information in real time and essential services, All with a click of a button - either on our municipal website and Facebook page or through the Municipal Moked Information Line that works 24/7, 365 days a year. Its dedicated professional staff provides information around the clock. The municipal App offers ongoing connection to the Municipal Moked and provides updates, online. The municipality also invests a tremendous amount in the field of security, through its mobile patrol units, operated 24 hours a day, offering the Highest level of response for all residential needs. The municipal services also include protecting the environment.

Raanana is one of Israel’s leaders in the field of implementing sustainability values, as the basis of its municipal development and community life. Raanana was the first city in Israel to implement a green building standard for all its new neighborhoods and houses built in the city; it is developing a mass transit system, including a train, beltways and bicycle paths. The city has led the way in its garbage separation program in residential and business areas and has installed municipal recycling centers for the collection of different types of packaging. It promotes municipal programs for energy efficiency and continues to develop green lungs citywide.

In 2015, the municipality began conducting a municipal infrastructure and nature survey, for the purpose of mapping and classifying all of the city’s natural sites and biological diversity, in order to protect these sites in the city’s future development plans. A great emphasis was placed on the education of the younger generation regarding the protection of natural resources.

In the coming years, there will be accelerated development in the field of construction. Neveh Zemer, the largest residential neighborhood in the city’s history will include 3,500 residential units in the northern section of Raanana, as well as an innovative sports center, public parks and educational institutions. In the western section of the city, the Neot Uzi neighborhood is in its finishing stages and will feature 238 long-term rental apartments.

Geographically speaking, Raanana is located in a perfect location, as the northern gate to the Gush Dan metropolis and its centers of activity. On the other hand, it is a quiet and green location in the heart of the Sharon region.

Raanana is poised for a transportation revolution, which will completely change its accessibility and make a significant contribution primarily to businesses and people working in the city’s industrial areas.

Highway 531, which surrounds Raanana from the south is a lateral freeway that runs from east to west. In the center of the highway are railroad tracks and two train stations will be built - one at the Amdocs Junction and the other on Jerusalem Street in the western section of the city. The road work is currently underway and will be completed in a year’s time. A shuttle system planned by the Municipality will be made available for employees working in the industrial area. This highway will connect the city to those traveling to Raanana on Highway 6; and in the future, it will connect with the Ayalon Highway and the Coastal Road (2).

Shortly, the road work to connect Highway 4 to Raanana’s northern industrial area - Kiryat Etgarim - will commence. This new entrance, which was recently approved by the Ministry of Transportation, will significantly ease the commute of thousands of employees traveling to the region from the north on Highway 4. In the future, this road is scheduled to continue until the Ayalon Highway, the Coastal Road and the Park N Ride lot with thousands of parking spots near the railway station in Shefayim. The Raanana Municipality is planning to offer a shuttle from this parking lot to Kiryat Etgarim.

This system of ring roads will connect the city directly to Israel’s main transportation axes and transform Raanana into a city with convenient access for companies, businesses and their employees. In addition, the Municipality is promoting plans for public transportation infrastructure, improving existing infrastructure and roads and paving a system of bike trails that will allow for quick and efficient access to and from and within the city.

In the heart of Kiryat Etgarim, a complex for the city’s young people is scheduled to be built, offering a leadership incubator and a variety of entertainment and leisure activities for young people and their families.

RAANANA - A PERFECT LOCATION FOR BUSINESSES

KIRYAT ETGARIM - ATTRACTING THE LEADINGCOMPANIES AND BUSINESSESIn recent decades, Raanana has become one of Israel’s leading hi-tech centers and is proud of the fact that WAZE, one of Israel’s most successful companies in recent years, was based in Raanana.

Located in the city’s northeast section, Kiryat Etgarim serves as one of Raanana’s most important and central anchors, serving as the center of activity of dozens of leading Israeli and international hi-tech and industrial companies, as well as Israeli start-ups. This is a vibrant area and it boasts restaurants and entertainment venues for people of all ages. The northern section of Kiryat Etgarim spans an area of 900 dunams. In this section, there is a concentration of hi-tech businesses and companies, including Live Person, Comverse, NICE, SAP, HP, NCR, Mellanox Technologies, Texas Instruments and Elbit’s subsidiary - CyberBit. Nearby are the Renanim Shopping Mall, workshops, restaurants and entertainment venues, which serve as a source of employment for 32 thousand people. Also located here are the offices of Raanana’s Business Administration - the Municipality’s division for collaboration with these companies, offering solutions to their ongoing needs.

Currently, the first business hotel in the region, Prima Millennium and the Assuta Medical Center are under construction. Assuta will offer advanced healthcare services. In 2015, Teva Ltd. announced its decision to relocate its headquarters to Raanana. This development trend in the region will continue with the approval of the city’s outline plan, which has recommended increasing the construction percentages in the area, while allowing mixed uses. The central section of Kiryat Etgarim, east of the Main Raanana Junction, spans an area of 120 dunams and 7,000 employees work there. This area is home to leading Israeli and international hi-tech and telecommunication companies, including Microsoft, amdocs, DMG, Bezeq, etc. Raanana’s central bus station is also located here and serves as a transportation center for thousands of passengers each day. In the coming years, a new business area will be built in the eastern section of the city and will span 100 dunams. A green and ecological park will be built here, with the new train station in its center, and will feature hi-tech companies, business offices and entertainment venues.

AGORAN - THE HOMEFOR SMALL BUSINESSES Your Home for Business Success.Agoran is a project run by Raanana’s Business Administration, designed to promote small businesses at the beginning of their journey, serving as a home and supportive framework for their activity. For a nominal fee, these businesses benefit from four months of work in the space provided to them by the Administration, as well as assistance, support and guidance in various fields.

Among the services offered: legal and marketing assistance,management tools and introduction to business owners for possible collaborations that will contribute to their success. The project has a variety of collaborations and consultants and it is supported by the various municipal divisions. Among the partners are the city’s business community, banks and funds, business associations, mentors and consultants.

HUBANANA - RAANANA’S HOME FOR START-UPSThe Hubanana project is part of the Raanana’s Business Administration and serves as a home for start-ups in their initial stages of development. Hubanana provides a wide array of services and tools related to the fields of business entrepreneurship, including: allocation of a shared work space at affordable prices, business support, meetings with investors, fast speed internet, etc. These entrepreneurs benefit from the sharing of professional knowledge and introductions to investors, who are enlisted by the Raanana’s Business Administration.

Hubanana is the main address in the Sharon region and the country in general for start-ups and attracts entrepreneurs who consider the Business Administration to be their home as well as a springboard to the business world and the field of technological entrepreneurship. Hubanana is a community, with more than 2,000 members who receive regular updates through Facebook and direct mail. Each week, there are meetings held here, open to the public, which attract dozens of entrepreneurs, investors, designers, developers and businesspeople, who assist the project’s members promote their entrepreneurial activity.

Hamadgera is a project that offers entrepreneurs and businesses in the field of hardware a work space and tools necessary for their work. The idea for starting this project was developed due to the need identified by the Raanana’s Business Administration to develop tangible projects in the field of hardware and to provide start-ups and companies focused on developing products with a solution using a 3D visual illustration. The tools made available to the entrepreneurs include a 3D printer, electronic equipment and internet kits (IoT - Internet of Things), professional support and consultation and skills for developing prototypes for using 3D printers.
