ACT 1

EXT. SUNSHINE DAY

FADE FROM WHITE into a fifties, suburban house, completewith picket fence to a happy-go-lucky song. (Doris Day)

INT. KITCHEN

(WIDE SHOT) The table is central in the room. A fathersits on one side, a mother bustles about the kitchen.

(CLOSE UP) At the fathers elbow, the mother puts down acup of coffee and the morning paper. In the background theyoung daughter appears and sits herself down at the table.Mothers hands appear again placing a bowl of cereal infront of her.

(LONG SHOT) shot from behind the daughter shows herreaching up to hand her father is lunch. Father kneelsdown to kiss his daughter on the forehead, takes the lunchand stands. (CAMERA FOLLOWS FATHER TO STANDING) Wife peckshim on the cheek.

(WIDE SHOT) Mother and daughter hang by the door wavingoff the husband/father. He walks out of shot.

LIGHT FLICKERS

ACT2

INT. LOUNGE

(CLOSE UP) A feather duster flits into shot, flapping at apicture frame of the family.

(LONG SHOT) Mother and daughter can be seen dusting thefront room. Mother reaches for the high spots whilst thedaughter dusts the table top. Both are on tip toes as theywork.

(CLOSE UP) as the daughters tiny hand lifts a sock.

Mothers larger hand takes it out of shot.

(MEDIUM SHOT) Shows mother pegging the sock on the washingline, daughter is at the hip, waiting with another one.The socks for each family member are paired up. Daddyspair are the largest, mummys medium in the middle and thedaughters teeny ones are being pegged out last

(CLOSE UP) A view from the inside of an oven shows adelicious apple pie baking. The door opens to reveal thefaces of both the mother and daughter. Daughter is coveredin flour, mother has a small amount on her pinny perhaps.

Mother reaches in to retrieve the pie.

EXT. THE WINDOW

(MEDIUM SHOT) From the outside, looking in. We can seemother and daughter proudly placing their pie upon thewindowsill.

LIGHT FLICKERS

Audience can just about see the mother and daughter lookto one another

LIGHT FLICKERS, ALL TURNS BLACK

ACT3

INT. BOMB SHELTER

(CLOSE UP) As the lights return with a FIZZ and CRACKLE.The mother and daughter dolls can be seen in the grip of achilds hands. (ZOOM OUT A LITTLE)

LIGHT FLICKERS SLIGHTLY

(LONG SHOT) Encompassing the girl, shows her sitting backslightly and looking upwards towards the flickering lightbulb. Returns her attention to the dolls at which pointshe picks up the daddy doll from the floor.

LIGHT FLICKERS AGAIN

(WIDE SHOT) Camera lifts to encompass the child and lightbulb in shot as it continues to malfunction.

BOOM, DISTANT EXPLOSION AND CAMERA SHAKE

Child sits slightly straighter and hugs the dolls closerto her chest, continuing to stare at the light bulb

Light bulb CRACKLES and FLARES

FADES TO WHITE
