Marketing• Hearts and Minds

• Marketing and Advertising to educate and grow support through interest groups• Give a Face to the Fights (Easy to hate an idea … hard to hate a person)• Don’t Fight Religion – Appeal to people’s sense of right and wrong in denial of

over 1,000 basic Federal Rights• Grow State Support

• Marriage is traditionally a State Institution• Would immediately grant rights to thousands of constituents while not requiring

a specific mandate to their home States• More States = Growing National Consensus to Courts and Congress

• Legislative Compromise• Respect of Marriage Act

• Not a Nation Wide Mandate• Does not define Federal Marriage• Allows States to still decide marriage rights
