1. Provide an overview of NORCAT, our key services and programs, and

our strategic direction over the next five years

2. Highlight our near-term priority initiatives for this upcoming fiscal year

3. Answer any questions / address any comments that you may have

The Development of our 5-year Strategic Plan

Over the past six months, we have engaged customers, staff,

entrepreneurs, corporations, partners, community leaders, government,

academic and research institutions, and market researchers to understand

their perspectives on the role of NORCAT has played and should play in the

future.

• As part of the Ontario Network of Excellence, NORCAT serves as Sudbury’s

Regional Innovation Centre partnering with community stakeholders to

help start and accelerate the growth of innovative companies

• Develop and provide leading, world-class programs, services, and resources

to reduce injuries, save lives, and enhance productivity in the workplace

and beyond

• Operate a vibrant innovation hub to engage our clients, community, and

key stakeholders by providing an environment that celebrates a culture of

productivity, innovation, and life-long learning

• Create a dynamic and exciting workplace that fosters collaboration,

learning and development, and a desire to achieve excellence

• Build a global brand as a combination “think tank” / “do tank” sharing and

promoting our client’s success and thought leadership

Safety and Insurance Board

estimates that the average

lost time injury costs more

than $106,500 per incident;

at that rate the estimated

cost of workplace accidents,

injuries, and illnesses in

2009 alone was nearly $7

billion.

Globally, about 2.2 million people die every year from occupational

accidents and diseases, while some 270 million suffer serious non-fatal

injuries and another 160 million fall ill for shorter or longer periods from

work-related causes.

The NORCAT Underground Training

and Technology Testing Centre is a

site-specific co-location workplace

that provides infrastructure,

connections, and services adjacent

to an applied operating mine

environment.

The Technology Testing Centre

adheres to the same principles as

the NORCAT Commons - bringing

together like-minded individuals

and companies in a world-class

innovation and testing centre

environment to meet the specific

needs of the mining industry.
