The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art is funded in part by the citizens of Virginia Beach through a grant from the City of Virginia Beach Arts & Humanities Commission, and by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, Business Consortium for Arts Support and The Hampton Roads Community Foundation. DONNA IONA DROZDA: Roots and Wings I’m passionate about symbolism and metaphor combined with observation of the natural world. I’m inspired by the opportunity to be alive! How fleeting and what a treasure. As an artist, author and educator Donna Iona Drozda impacts many lives through her artwork and teaching. Her work includes vibrant and complex acrylic paintings and mixed media works of art. For the artist, they are a means to celebrate life and its idiosyncrasies. Each piece fuses images from nature with brilliant colors, textures, patterns and symbols. What results is a cohesive vision of personal stories, beliefs and shared human experience. Within each narrative is an invitation to explore. Soon, you will discover and appreciate the world through Drozda's beautiful outlook. This exhibition is organized by The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). MOCA would like to thank Donna Iona Drozda and The Runnymede Corporation for their help in realizing this exhibition. SATELLITE GALLERY AT TOWNE PAVILION II Open Monday-Friday 9am-6pm and Saturday from 10am-4pm. There is no charge for admission. MOCA has partnered with The Runnymede Corporation to open a permanent satellite gallery in the lobby of their Virginia Beach headquarters at 600 22nd Street, Pavilion II, a short walk from the museum. MOCA Satellite Gallery at Towne Pavilion II has over 80 combined feet of wall space spanning the lobby and hallways of the first floor.
