As we move not just into springtime but into the Sea-

son of Resurrection, our spirits are renewed and our

hope is refreshed. It’s the reminder that the ugliness

and death of the world in which we live does not have

the final say. You see, it too is but for a season. Inher-

ent to the beauty of the Resurrection is that the promise

of a glorious, eternal, Christ-centered future is secured.

I look forward to celebrating this news with y’all on

Resurrection Sunday!

Peace!

We want to thank you for your prayer support for our

church body and Craig and his family as we move forward with the process to finding a new Lead Pas-tor. Only by waiting on God and asking for His guid-ance will the process result in our ability to continue reaching our community for Christ. On Monday, March 14th, we will be holding two (2) prayer and song times to come together as a group and pray. The services will have a time of singing followed by a time of prayer. Please join us for an hour or so either at 2pm or 7pm.

The Church Board approved a Search Committee

consisting of the following people: Bob Lorence, Judy Tobin, Tom Barnett, Dene Platt, Lori Spencer, Lisa VanSwoll and Bill McLeod. Please keep these indi-viduals in your daily prayers. During the next two months they will be identifying the process and the leadership traits needed to best serve God here at First Christian Church.

On April 4th, Frank Musgrave, will present the morn-

ing message and in the afternoon meet with the Search Committee to give guidance for the upcoming search process.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please visit

with the Search Committee or any Board member.

Ah, Springtime...

It sure is starting to look a bit “spring-ish” outside. And

I’m hoping it’s not nature playing a cruel joke; a kind of sea-

son-based bait and switch. Wouldn’t be funny...not at all!

In all honesty, I really enjoy springtime. I know a lot of

folks around these parts who’ve told me of their love for

autumn...and, yes, autumn is nice. Lots of color, etc. But I

remain drawn to the beauty of spring.

Perhaps it’s because, between growing up in the Puget

Sound region of Washington and living 11 years on Ore-

gon’s South Coast region, I’ve lived about 40 years of my life

in rainy climates. In such areas, spring simply means...more

rain (in Seattle, it’s a prelude to...more rain. Don’t get me

started!). Our family’s move to Tennessee and then Virginia

in 1987 was my first experience (ever) with having four dis-

tinct seasons. And it was there, in the Appalachian (Ap-pa-

lach-un) Mountains of SW Virginia that I fell in love with

springtime...

Trees, long dormant over the winter months, beginning

to “shimmer” with the hint of the green to come. Grass

starting to wake up (yes, I know...lawn mowing seasons be-

gins; I try to avoid thinking about that as long as possible!)

and, soon, there will be flowers working their way toward a

bloom.

What struck me our first spring in SW Virginia (again,

for the first time) was the visual move from death to life. It

was and is a kind of resurrection played out before us. I still

remember being mesmerized by the genesis of nature’s new

life. I still remember the enjoyment, indeed the excitement,

of realizing that the death of winter was giving way to the

new life of spring. And, I’m thinkin’, that’s why spring is

my favorite time of year. It’s the sense of moving on to

something...better.

“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here;

he has risen! Remember how he told you...” (Lk.24:5ff)

Can’t help but wonder if the (my sense) of spring’s arri-

val correlates to what Jesus’ disciples experienced, after the

initial shock of events – including Jesus’ resurrection – had

passed. Death no longer hold the upper hand. As the Apos-

tle Paul writes, “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O

death is your sting?” (1Cor.15:55) And thanks be to God,

who gives us the victory through our Lord, Jesus Christ!

The Joy of Focusing on God

Morning I am ever so near you, hovering over your shoul-der, reading every thought. People think that thoughts are fleeting and worthless, but yours are precious to Me. I smile when you think lov-ingly of Me. My Spirit, who lives within you, helps you to think My thoughts. As your thinking goes, so goes your entire being.

Let Me be your positive Focus.

When you look to Me, knowing Me as God with you, you experience Joy. This is according to My ancient design, when I first crafted man. Modern man seeks his positive focus elsewhere: in sports, sensations, acquiring new posses-sions. Advertising capitalizes on the longing of people for a positive focus in their lives. I plant-ed that longing in human souls, knowing that on-ly I could fully satisfy it. Delight yourself in Me; let Me become the Desire of your heart.

Evening Most people are not very aware of their thoughts during their “down times,” but I am quite aware of them. I want you to train your mind to turn to-ward Me more and more. Think about who I am — Creator, Savior, King of kings — and ponder My amazing, unending Love for you.

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is man that You are mindful of him, the son of man that You care for him? — Psalm 8:3–4

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and ap-prove what God’s will is — His good, pleasing and perfect will. — Romans 12:2 Before You Turn Out the Light Spend some time in quietness — away from the television, the radio, and other distracting noise — to restore your focus to Me.
