27TH ANNUAL CH.I.L.D. FOUNDATION
DOORMEN’S DINNER
2
The CH.I.L.D. Foundation is most pleased to present the award of “Honourary Doorman of the Year” to the Honourable Christy Clark.
The Doormen of Greater
Vancouver pay tribute to her
outstanding contribution to
the hospitality and tourism
industry in British Columbia,
as well as to recognize the
positive economic impact
Christy has made on our
communities.
As the former Premier of
British Columbia, Christy
Clark demonstrated a
keen aptitude for fiscal
management and job
creation, making B.C. the
only Canadian province with
an AAA credit rating with
superior economic growth.
Under her leadership,
the Tourism and Hospitality
industry prospered
significantly.
Always a student of politics
from a young age, inspired,
encouraged and supported
by her family, especially her
father, Christy served as a
Member of the Legislative
Assembly for fifteen years:
Port Moody-Burnaby
Mountain (1996-2001),
Port Moody-Westwood
(2001-2005) and Vancouver-
Point Grey (2011-2013).
In that time she served as
Deputy Premier, Minister
of Education, Minister
of Children and Family
Development and vice-chair
of Treasury Board before
being elected as MLA for
Westside-Kelowna in 2013
and 2017.
She took a break from
government in 2005 to spend
more time with her family
and young son Hamish
and worked in the media
during her time away from
government as a columnist
and commentator and host
of the "Christy Clark Show"
on CKNW Radio.
Her foray into media gave
voice to the anti-bullying
program ‘Pink Shirt Day’
which remains a powerful
and inspiring movement
even 11 years later.
Christy Clark served the Province of British Columbia for over six years as Premier, becoming the longest serving female Premier in Canadian history.

The CH.I.L.D. Foundation was established in 1995, founded by Grace M. McCarthy, O.C., O.B.C., LL.D., D.TECH., F.R.A.I.C. (Hon.), Lindsay Gordon and Mary McCarthy Parsons to fund research for children who are stricken with Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis and liver disorders.
Driven by dedicated volunteers, the CH.I.L.D. Foundation has created unprecedented public awareness, due in large part by donated support from the media and the business community. The CH.I.L.D. Foundation has taken this severely under-funded health issue in children and raised the profile to such an extent that health providers and hospital leaders, as well as the general public, are now responsive to the needs of these children.
We have established The Canadian Children Inflammatory Bowel Disease Network: A Joint Partnership of the Federal Government’s Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and CH.I.L.D. Foundation. It is the first network of its’ kind in Canada, enhancing better patient care and health outcomes on the way to finding a cure.
Net proceeds from the Doormen’s Dinner benefit the CH.I.L.D. Foundation and we are privileged to be supported by generous Sponsors and Donors, particularly Shaw Communications and the generous continued help from WestJet.
Enjoy the evening!

THE GREATER VANCOUVER DOORMAN'S ASSOCIATION
It was Doormen Sam Caros and Doug Edgeworth who began with a small gathering of Doormen to host an appreciation party for their loyal customers in the early eighties. Together with “Mr. Dinner” Gordie Weber, Mike and Cathy Miller, Doorman Charles Tomozer, and Doorman Mark Brailey, the popular events grew larger.
For many years, the Doormen of Greater Vancouver have used the annual dinner to raise over $850,000 to find a cure through research for children who suffer from Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis and liver disorders.
This evening would not be possible without the gracious and professional assistance from the Doormen and the participation of the following Hotels: Century Plaza Hotel & Spa, EXChange Hotel Vancouver, Executive Hotel Le Soleil, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel, Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel, Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver, Marriott Vancouver Pinnacle Downtown Hotel, Pan Pacific Vancouver Hotel, Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront, River Rock Resort and Hotel, Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel, Sutton Place Hotel Vancouver and Wedgewood Hotel & Spa.
WELCOME!
