Dorothy Adams runs Dreamersand Achievers (DAA), a non-profit organization providingdirect services to hundreds ofDC’s most vulnerable residentswithin Washington, DC. Dorothy and her team are passionate about whatthey do, and they have made a positive differencein the lives of many vulnerable people within thecommunity. Despite all of the organization’ssuccess, Dorothy found her team caught up in thesame administrative duties every day:
These administrative tasks took up significant timethat could have otherwise been spent deliveringmore services, identifying organizational processimprovements, and on strategic planning forfuture growth.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, creatingmany uncertainties for service delivery andfunding. Dorothy knew she had hundreds ofvulnerable clients that depended on herservices. She also had funders, staff, andvolunteers to connect. She was feeling thepressure and high expectations from everyone. To adapt to COVID-19, Dorothy began testingpossible solutions to safely deliver their serviceseffectively and efficiently during the pandemic. (continued on page 2)
Another local organization told Dorothy aboutHopeOneSource, a social impact technology thathelped them streamline this work. With the helpof HopeOneSource’s outreach and check-intechnologies, her team’s administrative work wasgreatly reduced, and her team was able toprovide more services to the community!

HopeOneSource tellsme what I need to
know, including healthand unmet needs. It is a
very valuable tool.- Dorothy Adams, Director,
Dreamers and Achievers
Dorothy’s team first tried doing phone calls, email, and virtual meetings like Zoom. It was very laborintensive trying to distantly stay connected witheveryone -- with a lot of calls going to voicemail, limited internet, IT issues, and continuous notesto track progress. This was a high level of effort, with a low return on investment. She knew sheneeded to find more ways to safely reach peoplethat was readily accessible by everyone, simple, and free or low cost. Turning to HopeOneSource again for support inApril 2020, she now safely and efficientlycommunicated with her contacts through bulkcustomized text messages and securelydownloads a by-name deliverability report with allof their responses (including real-time insightswith totals, trends, changes, and projections).
The benefits of HopeOneSourceDorothy accessed and exported below in real-
time. She used two of the multiple availablereporting formats: 1.) Excel, 2.) Tableau

Dorothy was delighted to know their status, most who said they were ok, including a clientwhom she had repeatedly been trying tocontact for months. Several others respondedwith unmet needs such as food, who were sentavailable services. One had even respondedstating they had recently lost a family memberdue to COVID-19 that Dorothy and her teamwere able to provide support.
Dorothy and her staff are now able to safelyconnect with her organization’s contacts withdignity, security, and ease. She does so by usingHopeOneSource to effectively and efficientlyconnect her clients, funders, and volunteers withreal-time updates, insights, and more.
