Do’s & Don'ts Of Hardware Mounting

• Mounting hardware size shouldbe as per the standard drawings.

• Ensure that all the hardware aretightened at all places like PINinsulator, Strain insulators,Jumpers etc.

• Proper alignment of hardwarebetween equipment andmounting frame.

• Mounting hardware holes inframe should be done as per theparticular hardware size.

• Avoid using hardware of lowergrades.•Don’t make Gas cutting as apractice for alignment of mountinghardware.

•Don’t use Corroded hardware formounting .

Do’s & Don'ts Of Earthing connection.

Do’s

• Bituminous paint should beprovided 150mm above theground and 150mm below theground to avoid corrosion, toprovide low resistive andmaintain potential Gradient.

• Ensure the Pole earthing shouldbe provided before the stringingof conductor to avoid theconductor and insulator damage.

• Insulator should be providedbetween LA structure earthing

and structure.• Isolator structure earthing withisolator handle should beprovided for the safety ofoperation

Don’ts

• Don’t make overlaping with lesscontact area in between twoearth strips

• Don’t use LA and Neutralearthing overlapped to providelow resistance and equipotentialsurface.

Do’s • Diameter of G.I. Stay Wires shall

be as per the EIL Standards .• Minimum tensile strength 700 kN

/ mm2

• Minimum breaking force ofsingle wire and strand shall beas per IS: 214 – 2000.

Don’ts • Don’t use the stay wire with

loosen condition. Ensure propertightening.

• Don’t use stay wire with out guy

insulator of EIL standard ratings.

Do’s

• Foundation (shape and size) should as per standard drawing• Foundation cement sand and aggregate ratio should be 1:2:4 or

1:4:8• Provide proper curing time (at least two days)• Surface of foundation should be same level at all sides• It should be assured the cement grade (53 grade)• All raw material of civil work (foundation or construction work)

should be checked by EIL employee

Don’ts

• Do not utilize non standardraw material.

• Do not use the rejectedtemplates for the civil work

in case of foundations.

Do’s

• Transmission line pole’s surfacepreparation should be done (Can beuse sand blasting, wire brush, emerypaper)

• After cleaning, apply the coating ofred-oxide paint through out thesurface area and dry it, it providesustainability against corrosion.

• After applying the red-oxidecompletely apply another coat ofaluminum paint.

• After erection second coat ofaluminum paint should be apply.

Don’ts

• Do not apply the red-oxide paintwithout surface preparation ofthe poles.

• Do not erect poles withoutpainting , it will decrease the lifeof the poles and get corrodedeasily.

Do’s & Don'ts Of Jumpers , conductor & Connections.

Do’s • Laying of jumpers should be

done per drawing.• Binding should not be loose.• Avoid Fraying of conductor.

• Bending of lug at conductorshould avoid.

• Avoid conductor joint in manyplaces between two cut points.

• Clearance between conductor toconductor and conductor to poleshould be as per standard.

• Sag should be as per standard.

Don’ts • Don’t Cut of conductor during

lugging. Ensure proper lugging.• Don’t make Nick mark in

conductor.

• Don’t put the conductor instress. Ensure proper length toavoid stress.

Do s & Don ts For Yard and Material Preservation

• Specification of all materials,equipment and various channelsshould be available in yard.

• Identification and traceability of allmaterials should be available.

• Acceptance criteria for Isolator shouldbe checked when the material indent.

• Painting process on materials shouldbe done as per specification.

• Assembling of DO fuse should be donecorrectly.

• Corrective action for scrap materialshould be done.

• Corroded Nuts should be scraped anddisposed.• Corrective action for scraped clamps

should be done.

• Do not misalign the assembly of DOfuse.• Do not place the relay panel and VCB

over abrupt surface and protect themfrom dust and other foreign particles.

• Ensure that there is no oil leakagefrom CT’s ,PT’s.

• Do not mix good materials withscrap.

• Ensure the life cycle and functioningof all panel batteries.
