1 ABOUT GUIDE - GNSS TESTING LABORATORY

GUIDE is a Testing Laboratory for satellite Geolocation.

Our Centre of Excellence, resulting from a joint partnership of the key players in the French aerospace industry, aims to provide manufacturers and system integrators with instrumentation, expertise and approvals necessary to address the most demanding markets in satellite navigation.

GUIDE is specially equipped* to test the toughest GNSS solutions (Hardware, Algorithms, Receivers, Systems), either by simulation in the laboratory or or live testing in real situations: urban areas, roads, rail, in the water, in the air.

GUIDE pools the collective know-now of all its members to provide the best expertise in response to customer expectations. The founding members are all recognised GNSS specialists . (*) The development of this technology platform has been financed by the Ministry of Industry as well as regional and local authorities : DGCIS (Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry), the Midi-Pyrenees Regional Council, the Aquitaine Regional Council, the Greater Toulouse Urban Community, the Midi-Pyrenees Prefecture . The Departmental Council of Gers, the Gers Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Dax Urban Community and the Bayonne-Anglet-Biarritz city also provided their support. GUIDE has received Aerospace Valley approval and is an important project for the sector.

1.2 GUIDE - Our business

GUIDE activity is organised around three key skills:

a. Metrology (Legal). This aims to conduct perfectly controlled tests run according to methods from recognised laboratories or from standardisation committees.

b. Geolocation by Satellite (GNSS). This discipline includes additional technologies which consolidate information from Geolocation (Inertial ...)

c. Understanding Criticality issues. This area covers integrity measurement as well as the validation of solutions which claim to conform to legal requirements.

1.3 GUIDE - Our missions

Our missions are testing services that fall into 3 categories:

Studying security and integrity levels inherent in Geolocation data

Checking the compliance of geolocation data collection methods with standards or rules in force.

Validating performance of GNSS equipment throughout the industrial process from design to production, including the testing of prototypes (Design & Architecture, R & D, prototyping, production).

1.4 GUIDE - Our Expertise

GUIDE draws upon its members for expertise and experience.

Depending on the project and required skills, GUIDE will select the most experienced specialists for the subject from among its Members .

In the absence of standards or appropriate regulations, test plans are developed by engineering experts in the relevant fields.

1.5 Quality Management System

The International Standard ISO17025 is the reference for Legal Metrology. It describes the "General requirements for the competence of laboratories to carry out testing and calibration".

In addition to being used to develop management systems (ISO9001), ISO17025 lists decisive technical requirements for proving the accuracy and reliability of the tests.

As part of its testing activities, GUIDE has established a quality management system in line with the requirements of this standard.

Beyond applying a set of normative rules, GUIDE has acquired a real expertise in the management of test campaigns and the design of testing specifications for demonstrating the performance of a GNSS solution.

The GUIDE Board of Directors has 12 founding members and CNES as an associate member: AIRBUS D&S, C-S (Diginext), Enac, ISAE, Helileo, M3 Systems, Maxsea, Telespazio, Oktal-SE, Thalès Alenia Space (TAS), Silicom.

3 SOME REFERENCE PROJECTS

3.1 ECOTAX Approval of satellite positioning (GPS) to authorize the tax

GUIDE was selected by Ecomouv to conduct the certification tests on the network of ECOTAX collection points. Previously GUIDE was restructured with the help of its members to comply with the standards for legal metrology. Ministerial approval has confirmed the capacity of the laboratory and its staff to conduct rigorous testing in the field of GNSS. * The National Laboratory IFSTTAR audited the testing and confirmed the certification of the toll-collection network. (*) IFSTTAR: Institut Français des Sciences et Technologies du Transport, de l’Aménagement et des Réseaux .

3.2 GAMP GNSS applied to Maritime and Port Domains

A market survey was conducted among French and Spanish ports to identify the potential benefits of GNSS technologies. The results have led to concrete proposals for the ports of Bayonne and Bilbao.

3.3 SPRING Performance Simulator for a GNSS-enabled Navigation Receiver

GNSS SOFTWARE TESTING - VALIDATION Performing a measurement campaign on GNSS receivers with post-processing of data and extensive analysis of results. The results were then used to validate the models implemented in version V2 of the CNES SPRING-simulator, in particular for signal propagation and the receiver module.

3.4 HISTB2 GNSS airborne testing for improvement of EGNOS

GNSS AIRBORNE TESTING These tests collect raw GNSS data from GPS, GLONASS and Galileo constellations. These measurements will help to characterize and validate the performance improvements made to the EGNOS system, particularly in the context of the PBN (RNAV & RNP) programme . The critical phases of the approach procedures were included in the test plan.

3.5 PATH 4 FLIGHT Automatic generation of flight path

TESTS, MARKET SURVEY & DISSEMINATION This project aims to develop an air-ground solution for automatic generation of procedures and flight paths for helicopters (& drones), integrating meteorological, geographical and aeronautical data. Pilots will thus have a GNSS-based navigational aid. Objectives: - Develop an automatic generator of procedures and

flight paths. - Assess the certification of the calculation process - Merge meteorological, geographical, aerospace and

sensor data
