The Challenge Dot & Bo was quickly outgrowing their previous ESP. Segmenting their growing subscriber base with the ESP became too slow, and they had to look to another tool to slice through customer data. In addition, email deliverability and send speeds were unreliable; this was harmful to their business since subscribers expected to receive design inspiration and new product announcements in their inbox at a certain time each day. Dot & Bo’s previous tool also had limited capabilities around A/B testing and creating multi-step drip campaigns. As a result, Dot & Bo needed to find a more robust ESP that could scale to its growing needs.

The Need When selecting a new ESP, Dot & Bo had several requirements around deliverability, segmentation, A/B testing and drip campaigns. They needed an email solution that can quickly and reliably deliver business critical transactional emails and large volumes of daily promotional messages. The platform must also be able to instantly slice and dice through a large subscriber base to create customer segments. Finally, the company needed a powerful solution that could allow the marketing team to quickly A/B test new email variations and design complex multi-step drip campaigns. advanced email campaigns, such as the two-step cart abandonment campaign. The Results Dot & Bo’s two-step shopping cart abandonment campaign is a huge success and has generated 400% more revenue than the previous single step campaign. The company has also seen increased open and purchase rates and learned valuable lessons through A/B testing shorter, snappier subject lines. What’s Next? Dot & Bo plans to continue innovating their successful two-step shopping cart abandonment campaign by testing different promotions, time delays between messages, and number of messages in the series. They plan to also iterate on their other email campaigns by varying the subject line and sender name, and even introducing product suggestions to transactional emails.
