MEDIA RELEASE May 2011 Lakbay Jose Rizal Heritage Trail to promote domestic tourism Good news for followers of Jose Rizal! This Friday morning, Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Alberto Lim leads the opening of the Lakbay Jose Rizal @ 150, a tourism heritage promotional campaign centered on Jose Rizal, and the unveiling of the Rizal Relief Map One- Stop Heritage Trail at the Rizal Park in Manila. “Every Filipino should avail of this chance to get to know our national hero better, to learn from his experiences, and to appreciate the many significant places in his life. Our fore ign visit ors are welc ome to partic ipate an d share our prid e. With increased tourist traffic to these areas, the project helps spread the economic benefits to the host communities”, said Lim. The launch participants get to visit Rizal’s Monument and the Rizal Light and Sound Park, and have their Rizal passports stamped, to signify that they have already visited those Rizal sites. After that, guests will have breakfast that includes Rizal’s favorite dishes, such as the Sardenas Secas Tuyo, Pancit Miki, Tinola, Paksiw na Ayungin, and Tsokolate e, among others. The launch itinerary also includes visits to the old Ateneo de Manila University, where Rizal studied for a greater part of his youth, the prison where he was detained in Fort Santiago, the present Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, where he was tried, and Paco Park, where his remains were buried. Lakbay Jose Rizal Heritage Trail to promote domestic tourism

Good news for followers of Jose Rizal!

This Friday morning, Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Alberto Lim leads

the opening of the Lakbay Jose Rizal @ 150, a tourism heritage promotional
