Processes:The Slitting-Process concept (A) is one of
the Dotec total Roll-Handling solutions. The
(RDT) Trolley removes the complete batch
of rolls from the shaft, the RH90 handler
tilt the rolls for palletizing. This speeds-up
the packaging process considerably and
full use of the slitter/converter Speed is
achieved.

Roll distribution (B/C) is an intensive pro-
cess. Rolls must lifted and tilted from the
pallet to the discharge positions. Lifting
& Tilting can be done, centralized in the
warehouse area. Smart roll-carts bring
them to the packaging dept. High efficiency
and little physical effort is the result.

Minimum for automatic release above balancer capacity can not be lifted
any combination of roll weight and roll width under the red line can be handled. For example: a roll of 700 mm width and a weight of 77 kg or less.
For a roll weight less than 25 kg, a release handle is recommended.
In the area between the red and yellow line, automatic release is possible.
Working Pressure: 6Bar ΔP 0.5 Cap. decreases by 15% combination weight x width
above the red line can not be properly handled. It can be lifted, but not tilted completely horizontal. (Vertical can stil be aligned)

A Dotec LiftAssist have very specific characteristics
that has been based on ease of operation, speed of work and
ergonomics in posture. The learning curve is very short. Work
becomes a pleasure. Dotec The Friendly LiftAssist®.
Dotec ErgoHandle ®The central feature of the Dotec lift assist
is the ergonomic handle, which is used
to operate the lift assist. The handle can
move freely up and down sliding through
the hands, allowing the user to keep his
eye on the load, while a mere finger touch
determines both direction and speed.
There is no need for bending and stretch-
ing (gymnastics) when lifting and storing
in high places (or vice versa).
Extra functions are activated by finger-tip
touch of the levers at the sides. Without
distraction or requiring special attention,
likewise the steering wheel of a car. Not
round but right-angled, since we move
Up&Down.
Smart logic Controls! (Fully pneumatic)The Dotec LiftAssist guides the process through the following
stages: from empty to full – moving – putting down – from full,
back to empty (Release) (Automated sequence). Extra func-
tions can be added and operated without using any buttons
or switches. This makes operation foolproof. The logic controls
responds automatically (proportional) to the user’s movements
and follows his own work speed.
Compact valve-modules have been
developed to achieve high speed reac-
tion and avoid (speed) losses through
long pneumatic tubing. They are in the
centre of each logic control.
The Air-Balancer: (IR-Zimmerman)The air-balancer is the “muscle” of the system and makes
the elastic vertical movement possible.
The compressed air pressure is on both sides of the pis-
ton, which makes that the load is “in balance”. By letting
in additional compressed air on one side of the piston
and escaping air on the other side, the piston moves. The
piston rod is connected to a ball-screw, which is con-
nected to the reel. In this way the linear movement of
the piston is turned into a turning movement of the reel,
which means that the wire rope winds up and unwinds.
In fact, the load is permanently supported (in balance)
by an air cushion. The elastic effect is the result of the
compressibility of air. This principle explains the differ-
ence between the operation of an
Air-balancer and a Hoist.
The logic control unit permanently
measures the “pressure” in the
piston chamber and uses this
information to react.
Once the lifting weight is “In Ba-
lance” only little extra effort (pres-
sure) is needed to move the load
UP & Down.
This all creates the typical
Dotec Dynamics!
Dotec ABC-System:The ABC-System is based on an Air-
Balancer Cylinder instead of the Cable
Air-Balancer. It has the same “Balance”
elastic movement. It’s ment for higher
loads up to 250KG.
ZA- Logic Control: Activated by the Ergo-Handle®, the
basic ZA-logic control allow the com-
pressed air to enter into the Balancer
for the up/down-movement. The valves
react “proportional”, which means that
“pressing” the operating lever harder
results in a “quicker” up & down move-
ment. This makes
operating the lift
assist quick and
dynamic, or quiet
and accurate,
whatever way
of operating the
process requires. This gives the
operator the feeling that he (or she)
decides what happens or should
happen, which creates positive mo-
tivation and an acceleration of the
overall process.
Centre of gravity:An important feature in every
Dotec system is the automated
“Centre Of Gravity” adjustment.
This unit secures the horizontal
and vertical alignment under any
condition.
This means that an empty or
loaded handler will always adjust
itself into the correct position. Once
adjusted for the application, it will
align automatically.

Dotec Articulating Arms have very special hinge points. This
design makes that the well-known disadvantages of the Banjo
arm belong to history. In all directions the Dotec folding arm fol-
lows the movements of the operator in a direct line and will not
straighten.
To reach under e.g. a platform we developed the FlexArm® (type
D). With this arm the rolls until 80 kg can be taken from the pallet
in upright position and placed on the machine shaft in horizontal
position.
Type E is also available in Super light but
Super strong carbon-fiber. Weight reduc-
tion over the steel version > 68%.
Jib cranes are perfect for short transfer applications.
Aluminium rail for the boom is applied, resulting in an
ergonomic, lightweight, easy to move boom. Jib cranes
can be floor mounted on a column or ceiling mounted. Jib
cranes provide up to 360 degrees of rotation and boom
lengths to 5 m.
An accurate and heavy-duty pivot bearing allow smooth
and free 360º rotation. End-stops, with hydraulic damp-
ing, limit the radius, when neces-
sary. A pneumatic parking brake
secures a safe way of parking
the machine, when not in use.
Model C Low Headroom (max.
125 kg) can be applied in loca-
tions with low ceilings.
Dotec infrastructure:
There are four solutions for the infrastruc-
ture: A: Aluminium rail system; B/C: 360°
Rotating arm; D: FlexArm®; E: 700C folding
(Banjo) arm, also available in super-light car-
bonfiber. The smooth operation of a lift assist
highly depends on the correct “infrastruc-
ture”, needed for the horizontal movements.
The infrastructure to be selected strongly
depends on the area lay-out of the factory
and the way of buffering the material that
must be lifted.
Our aluminium rail profiles are extruded from
6063-T6 and anodized for a smooth, clean,
corrosive-free surface. The enclosed rail
design reduces the accumulation of dirt and
grime on the internal running surfaces, thus
reducing rolling effort. The special rail pro-
file, the unique way of suspending and the
advanced trolley design guarantee a rolling
resistance of ≤1% of the load to be moved.
