Illegible handwriting is a symptom of dysgraphia.

What is dysgraphia?Dysgraphia is difficulty with handwriting, spelling and written expression.It includes all aspects of writing from learning how to hold a pencil to writing essays and job-related tasks.Confusion surrounding dysgraphia is just not right. One in three individuals have some difficulty in this area.No child should have to struggle with a writing disability.It can be overcome with proper modifications.Teachers need to worry about comfortably teaching all students.Dysgraphia does not need to be a barrier to your students’ education.

This course is a companion to the book Handwriting Brain-Body DisConnect written by the instructor. The purpose of the course is to become proficient in understanding the types of dysgraphia and strategies that can be used inclusively in the classroom to enhance all students’ social-emotional learning. Dive into the neuroscience of learning adjust it for when it doesn’t fit the traditional student.

This course is NOT a handwriting curriculum.

How is the course set up? Several video trainings 10-15 minutes each are dripped weekly over a 14-

In addition to the Dotterer Dysgraphia Method, we offer ten supplementalprofessional development sessions that you can include in faculty meetings or a time of mutual availability .

This program is completed live virtually and reflects the needs of your school district.

This program includes topics such as: Similarities and difference with dyslexia and dyscalculia Auditory and Visual Memory Cognitive Focus and Flow Primitive reflexes and integration Preschool red flags Middle school needs High School needs Transition to college strategies Social-emotional learning Instructional coaching Response to Intervention

Why include the supplement? Handwriting factors are complex and deserve a holistic approach to

students. These topics are related, but do not teach dysgraphia interventions. The social-emotional well-being of students is crucial to their success.

Please note that this program is not a stand-alone product. It is a supplement to The Method.

Our coach, Cheri Dotterer, uses a CROWN Model to approach instructional coaching model approach to support your staff.

Her goal is to develop an individualized partnership with each teacher or staff member.

Some members of your staff may prefer an active approach, others a more passive interaction, and still others a combination of the two.

Cheri utilizes her years of experience to maximize your faculty’s understanding of dysgraphia interventions to maximize the transformation of your students.

CHOICE: Every individual has a choice to listen first. Cheri approaches yourstaff with the CHOICE to listen first and grow the self-awareness of faculty and their students.RESILIENCY: Tenacity develops with confidence and courage.ORGANIZING: Time management and material organization are struggles for many students. We explore how to maximize your outcomes.WORTHINESS: Ever faculty member, staff, and student was put here in your district for such a time as this. Every person is worthy. Self-improvement takes a growth mindset. Cheri helps your staff own their mindset.NOVEL: Mundane routines turn off the brain. New and novel ideas awaken learning and teaching.

This add on is in-person. Cheri will spend one day per month (10 total) at you school to support instructional delivery of handwriting and dysgraphia needs.
