I want to put my text in columns as it is neat an legible for the reader to see as you see in the example below.
I want one main picture of an artist on the left but three others where I can advertise their album, advertise a competition for tickets to their concerts and advertise a part of the outfit they were wearing e.g. Nike trainers. This will promote the artist career encouraging future artist to agree to interviews with ‘Standard’, my target audience will want to invest in the magazine as it keeps them up to date with their favourite artist and companies will pay to advertise their products in my magazine as when a famous person wears something those who are interested in that artist will want to invest in it as they will want to be like them. I want them all to be equally spaced out so that it does not look crowded.
I want a catchy quote to draw people into reading the actual text. I want it on the left as this is the page people will look at first.
I want a brief introduction of the artist who is being interviewed to give the audience the background.
Making a double paged spread
1) Click on pages
2) Type in desired number
3)Result!!
I inserted my picture into InDesign…
2) I decreased it in size so it could fit to one page and flipped it over so it could be looking toward the text. When it was facing the other way the picture looked separated from the interview, here I fitted the content to the frame but then the picture looked out of shape, so …
3) I Fitted content to frame proportionally which allows me to fill the whole frame but avoids the picture from looking squashed or/and stretched out of shape. But then when observing the picture
the ‘artist’ looked bored, so I chose a picture in which she looked less bored but avoided it being too lively as the theme of the interview is mainly of her life.
As the mood of the interview is quite sad I wanted the picture to be in black and white. InDesign is not the best place for picture so instead I edited my picture in Photoshop.
Here you see the steps I followed to turn it to black and white.
I wanted the contrast to be strong so that the picture can have a stronger impression and below you see how I went about this.
As you see to the right black and white with a strong contrast can have a strong effect, especially when speaking about ones life.
I then exported the picture into InDesign and followed the same procedure I did for the first image.
