Final Draft Analysis of double page spread

Photo shoot Planning The reason I chose this image is because the model is clearly happy. Facial expression are vital to grip the readers attention. The image which only focuses on the models face makes it clear to us that she is the subject of the article. The mid-shot of the model crouched down shows her gesture and body. The long her, red lipstick and jewellery suggests she a extremely feminine artist. This also convey the target audience this is aimed at ABC1 women & men. The background which has been cropped and panned allows the audience to focus just on the model rather than the mise-en-scene. When choosing the right image, I mad sure I used a shot which used the rule of third.

Double Page Spread analysis The letter ‘P’ which takes up the whole right side of the double page spread is a feature which is common in most Q magazines.

By changing the opacity this allowed the body text to stand out as well as the letter. The reason I placed this letter on the double page spread is because it represents the artist name. ( Paula) It also make the article stand out more by catching the readers attention. The red font follows the colour scheme of the magazine.

My inspiration has been taken from ‘Q’ magazine. The ‘L’ which stands for Lady gaga automatically grips the readers attention.

This was an effective feature in the way that is reminds the reader of the artist but allows make the body text stand out. This effective letter covers the long body text across the A4 page and almost eliminate the reader from seeing how much writing there is, therefore this will pursued the reader into reading the text straight away.

Double Page spread analysis Successful magazines seem to find a special niche or have an identifiable difference from magazine titles that are currently on the market. Like ‘Q’ magazine their short, catchy logo will always be something readers will always remember. The page number and issue date is a common convention used in all magazines, specifically music magazines. The red logo is eye-catching. This is essential to catch the reader attention as they are many other magazines of the shelf.

Q magazine create a mark that is distinctive, recognizable, is appropriate for their topic, and is usable in a range of places, only one of which is a magazine cover. The catchy and memorable logo forces the reader to constantly remember the magazine. Simple features like this will easily increase the marketing process of the magazine. . Logos stand out more when they use  value rather than color contrast.. As for Q magazine the white stands out on the red box.

The title is an introduction for the reader to have an insight of the story/article. Pull quotes are serving to entice readers into an article or to highlight a key topic. The pull-quote must be short and effective in order to persuade the audience to read the article.

Pull quotes are used to emphasize excerpts of text. Since users almost never read but scan we need to provide them with some focus anchors to fix their attention to the most important parts of our articles. The red, bold and bigger font allows the quote to stand out. Pull quotes are generally placed in the middle of the article to at the top. Notice that the pull quote is placed along the ‘C’ eye flow.
