LEAN LEAN, or the Toyota Production System,
is a cutting-edge comprehensive
management system originally developed
by the Toyota Motor Company. Focused
on empowering people talent and
operational efficiency, it is now the
standard of care and strategy for many of
the most successful industries and
companies around the world. The central
idea is to maximize customer
value while minimizing waste. LEAN is
about creating more value for customers
with existing resources, freeing up people
and time to focus on truly value-added
services for customers. The ultimate goal
is to provide the highest possible quality
at the least appropriate cost to the
customer through a culture that rewards
continuously improving performance and
generating ideas and decision-making on
the frontlines.
LEAN changes the focus of leadership
from top-down management to
optimizing the most efficient flow of
people, products and services. It unifies
technologies, assets, ideas, human talent
and departments to create better ways of
serving our customers. Eliminating waste
through innovation and empowerment
creates a system that requires less human
effort, time, space, and capital, while
allowing an organization to move with
acumen, alacrity, speed and passion in
providing truly value-added work.
