In 1837, in a small shop in Grand Detour, Illinois, a blacksmith named John Deere built a better plow for his customers. Farmers loved his innovation and the plow soon took off, as did the company that bears his name.
Throughout its history, Deere & Company has continued its founder’s search for a better way. A better way to work the land, from farm fields and forests to roadways and construction sites. A better way to use the land for homes, parks, playgrounds and even sporting events.
The values on which John Deere founded the company haven’t changed as the company has grown. John Deere’s integrity, quality, commitment and innovation have become hallmarks of the brand. Deere & Company now employs more than 56,000 people, and operates facilities around the world. We love to serve those linked to the land, and today we do that just about everywhere.
