Production equipment must be durable, robust, and efficient to process well stream products and economically provide oil and gas for initial sale. Cimarron has a complete line of equipment to handle the wide variety of operating conditions and offers solutions for low or high pressure, solids removal, vapor-liquid and liquid-liquid separation, and emulsion treating.

PRODUCTION

Separators Separators have long been the “workhorse” of oil and gas production, utilizing differing densities and properties of production streams to efficiently separate oil and gas. Cimarron separators come in a variety of sizes and pressure ratings, dictated by the specific operating conditions of each location. The outstanding performance of our horizontal or vertical separators is due to the proven internal designs, which optimize momentum, gravity, and coalescence for effective separation.

TreatersCimarron’s oil treater products include a variety of designs. We design and manufacture traditional heater treaters in both vertical and horizontal styles and customize these to meet the operating requirements of our customers. We have extensive experience in designing units for colder climates, where interior piping or insulated exterior piping is required. We often provide gas domes in horizontal units to help protect against liquid carryover when the potential for slugging exists. Many of our customers prefer Cimarron treaters since the oil or oil/water interface level can be changed using adjustable weirs or water legs (vertical units). Typical sizes are four to eight feet in diameter and lengths range from fifteen to forty feet, with maximum allowable working pressures ranging from 75 psig to 250 psig.

Direct-Fired Oil TreatersIn operations where higher inlet pressures exist, Cimarron provides oil treating equipment that combines the internals of an oil treater with an indirect heater. These “direct-fired” units are used where the pressure is higher than that recommended for heater treaters and the well stream requires heating prior to pressure reduction to avoid hydrate and paraffin formation. The product stream at wellhead pressure enters a coil tube bundle placed in the treater vessel, using the heated well fluid as the heat transfer media. The heated product stream then is reduced in pressure and introduced into the vessel for emulsion treating and separation. Gas domes are typically employed in these three-phase treaters, allowing for greater liquid/liquid separation capacity, protection from slugging, and sufficient area for vapor separation. Clean liquid/liquid separation is enhanced through the use of separate oil and water weir chambers at the control head of the vessel.

Page 6: Download Product Overview

6 CimarronEnergy.com

High-Low Pressure SeparatorsAnother variation of a traditional oil treater is what is known as a “High-Low Pressure Separator”. Commonly used in US shale fields, the high/ low pressure (HLP) separator combines the benefits of a higher-pressure two-phase separator with a lower-pressure three-phase treater. The well stream product is heated using an internal coil placed in the vessel, using the heated well fluid as the heat transfer media. The heated product stream then enters a higher-pressure two-phase vessel (typically 400 to 1000 PSIG) on top of the unit for the initial gas/liquid separation. The liquids are then introduced into the lower-pressure heated separator (treater) for liquid/liquid separation. The

primary benefit of this Cimarron model is that gas can be sold at higher pressure for metering and transmission — avoiding compression — while the liquids are treated at a much lower pressure for effective separation and to reduce emissions from the atmospheric storage tanks. Like the direct-fired units, clean liquid/liquid separation is enhanced through the use of separate oil and water weir chambers at the control head of the vessel.

Gas Production Units (GPUs) Cimarron’s separators and gas production equipment have become an industry standard for wellhead consolidation, pad footprint and flow-line reduction, installation and production efficiency, at lower capital and operating costs.

• Multiple-well designs

• Reduced footprint & installation costs

• Skid-limit design

• Pressures to 1440 PSIG

• Two and three-phase separators are typically 20” to 42” outside diameter

• Enclosed cabinet available for challenging operating environments

• Extensive product line including integrated sand separators and line heaters

Cimarron’s standard Gas Production Unit (GPU) is comprised of a split-pass coil indirect heater containing a gas-fired natural draft burner, a pre-heat and expansion coil bundle, followed by a two-phase or three-phase separator typically operating above sales line pressure. The process heat reduces the risk of gas hydrate formation

associated with large pressure drops and ensures effective separation through the control of pressure and temperature. The equipment is enclosed within a skid-mounted cabinet, allowing for ease of installation and operation while minimizing the equipment footprint and space requirements. The indirect heater is designed in accordance with API 12K standards, while the separator design is based on recommendations of the Gas Processors Suppliers Association (GPSA).

Cimarron-designed production units can be customized to address specific needs with respect to the number, size, and positioning of the separation vessel. While the number of separators is related to the number of producing wells on a multi-well pad (allowing volume measurement for individual well streams), the positioning is largely dependent on the gas-oil ratio. Horizontal units are typically preferred in liquid rich production streams, while vertical separators are utilized when there is relatively little liquid in the product stream. Cimarron has regularly designed and manufactured production units capable of processing two to five well streams simultaneously.

Cimarron also offers a range of sand separators designed to extend the life of the GPU. A sand separator installed ahead of the inlet of the production unit will facilitate the removal of as

many solids and contaminants as possible. Solids and well debris, particularly where shale fracturing is employed, can reduce processing capacity and has a detrimental effect on the production choke.

In the design phase, we carefully size the preheat coil, choke, and expansion coil depending on well conditions. Typical coil ratings are 5,000 PSIG, but the advent of deeper drilling and the extension of laterals has resulted in the need for even higher coil ratings. Cimarron now frequently manufactures coil bundles with ratings of 10,000 PSIG. We use actual well conditions and process simulation to determine the number of passes for the preheat and expansion coils in order to provide the appropriate surface area for heat transfer. Maximum allowable working pressure of the separator vessel is typically 1,440 PSIG.

Sand SeparatorsSolids removal prior to initial separation has become an increasing need with the trends in hydraulic fracturing across the U.S. shale basins. Silica sand, fracturing sands, proppants, and other debris are commonly returned to the surface in the initial production phase of shale wells. Our sand separators protect our customer’s investment in downstream processing equipment and reduce the damaging effects of solids on high pressure piping and vessels. Cimarron has provided thousands of these high pressure solids separators to operators across the U.S., from the Permian Basin to the Rockies to the Marcellus/Utica shale basins in the Northeast.

Cimarron designs and manufactures a variety of sand separator sizes and pressure ratings - from 16” OD x 8’ to 30” OD x 10’, with pressure ratings of 3,000 PSIG to 10,000 PSIG. For ease of transport and installation, the units are installed on an “L-skid” and Cimarron often provides manifold piping according to the operator’s needs and operational configuration.

Line HeatersCimarron designs and manufactures indirect water bath heaters and line heaters to heat gases or liquids safely in a variety of sizes and with a number of customer preferred options. Applications include:

• Heating natural gas prior to separation and pressure reduction

• Prevention of hydrates before pressure reduction at distribution city gates

• Heating of gas during transmission stages

• Controlling separation temperatures of gas and liquids to increase the efficiency of separation and prevention of hydrates

• Heating of water for water jacket applications

• Heating of heavier crude oils for easier processing and fluid movement

PRODUCTION

The principal benefit of indirect heating is that the combustible fluids are heated in a non-combustible fluid, in many cases a glycol/water mixture. The product fluid or gas is contained in a designed coil bundle comprised of multiple passes and paths and have no direct contact with the heat media that provides the necessary heat transfer area to meet the specific conditions required. Key factors in the design of the coil bundle include heat transfer area, mixture velocity (both of which vary depending on fluid composition), pressure, and temperature. The heat supplied by the firetube to the heat media is modulated by temperature measurement in the product stream to ensure that the customer specifications are achieved.

Cimarron regularly manufactures heaters ranging from 100,000 to 4 million Btu per hour. Our custom engineered designs allow for a number of options to meet the varying requirements of our customers.

Condensate StabilizationDue to transportation rules for tanker, pipeline, or storage, the volatile dissolved gases in crude oil must be removed. Actions undertaken by the State of North Dakota and the US Department of Transportation regarding the transport of crude oil from the Bakken exemplify the importance of vapor pressure control for oil and gas producers. Removal of the volatile hydrocarbons from the liquid product is referred to as crude oil stabilization, where C1 to C 3 components are removed while retaining the maximum amounts of C4 and above. The challenge is to maximize stock-tank oil recovery while meeting the vapor pressure requirements, and control of the butane content is typically the determining factor in achieving economic and transportation objectives.

Natural gas processing presents some difficult challenges due to its varied composition and phase changes with pressure, as well as the need to remove water and deleterious elements commonly present in gas such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide. Gas also contains highly valuable hydrocarbons produced as liquids from the gas, including ethane, propane, butanes, and pentanes, which are used in fuels and as petrochemical feedstocks. Key processes used in processing gas are removal of acid gases, or “sweetening”, dehydration, and temperature reduction using Joule-Thomson expansion or mechanical refrigeration.

GAS PROCESSING

Page 14: Download Product Overview

14 CimarronEnergy.com

Gas SweeteningSpecifications for the sale of natural gas contain stringent requirements regarding acid gases, particularly the amount of organic sulfur and sulfur compounds contained in the gas product. Two common constituents, hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and carbon dioxide (CO2), are particularly problematic and require removal. There are a number of processes available for acid gas removal, and Cimarron has significant experience in the design and manufacture of the most common process using aqueous amine solutions.

Glycol DehydrationCimarron offers a variety of glycol dehydration designs to reduce the water content of natural gas prior to transport or further processing, as well as field service to help train personnel and maintain your dehydration equipment. We have designed and manufactured glycol dehydration units from small 1 MMSCFD field units to large 250 MMSCFD multi-skid systems for transmission compressor stations. While the desired water content is typically 5 to 7 lbs per MMBtu, we often design for lower dewpoints as well by improving the glycol regeneration.

BTEX CondensationBenzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) and volatile organic compounds (VOC) emitted from natural gas processing facilities are strictly regulated by the U.S. EPA. BTEX, in particular, is commonly an issue from the still vent of glycol regenerators.

To minimize emissions of these vapors to the atmosphere, several emission control processes have been developed. The most common approach is to recover condensable compounds and to use the remaining vapors either as part of the fuel gas supply to the reboiler or incinerate the vapors entirely. Given safety concerns about using these vapors as reboiler fuel, Cimarron has paired finned tube condensers with its EPA certified enclosed combustors to incinerate the relatively small amounts of remaining vapor. Cimarron combustors are certified under NSPS OOOO and MACT HH/HHH provisions.

JT skidLow temperature separation of natural gas using a constant-enthalpy Joule-Thomson expansion can provide significant cooling of the gas. The low temperature separation allows for hydrocarbon dew point control and increases the recovery of natural gas liquids (NGLs).

Slug CatcherProcessing is rarely steady-state. Under certain operating conditions gas and liquid are not evenly distributed throughout the pipeline, but travel as large “slugs” with mostly liquids or mostly gases through the pipeline. A slug catcher, located between the outlet of the pipeline and the processing equipment, is a vessel with sufficient buffer volume to store the largest slugs expected from the pipeline

GAS PROCESSING

system. The liquid and gas product can then be moved to the processing facility at a controlled rate.

Cimarron has manufactured both “harp” or “finger” style as well as conventional vessel slug catchers. They differ in terms of liquid capacity, micron separation capability, and transport and installation.

Reducing emissions from oil and produced water storage vessels at oil and gas production sites is now required under the Clean Air Act. Operators with storage vessels having the potential to emit more than 6 tons of volatile organic compounds (VOC) annually must reduce these emissions by at least 95%. VOC emissions result from the pressure reduction of the liquids into the atmospheric tanks (“flashing”), but also from the loading and discharging of the tanks as well as temperature changes of the fluid inside the vessels.

ENVIRONMENTAL

There are two common solutions. Capture and recompress the vapors or incinerate them. Operating conditions and economics drive your decision.

Cimarron Energy can help. We offer a complete line of services and equipment, including:

•Estimation of potential emissions and recommended economic solutions

•Vapor recovery towers (VRT) to capture vapors prior to delivery to the storage vessel

•Vapor recovery units (VRU) to recompress captured vapor for sale or further use

•EPA Certified enclosed combustors to incinerate storage tank or truck loading emissions and serve as a backup to a VRU

•Experienced field service teams to aid and support your operation in achieving its environmental goals

Vapor Recovery TowersCimarron manufactures vapor recovery vessels to capture vapor emissions from produced oil and condensate. These low pressure vessels (typically 3-5 psig) allow for final flashing of vapors prior to storage. The gas and vapor can be used as onsite burner fuel, moved to the sales line, or incinerated in Cimarron’s EPA certified enclosed combustors. Towers are designed in a variety of sizes to provide the required liquid and flashing capacity.

Vapor Recovery UnitsVapor recovery units (VRU) are a skid-mounted solution for capturing flash gas from storage tanks, a VRT, or other sources on a location where pressure reduction is needed to stabilize fluids or assist in production efficiency. A VRU has the capability to maintain a tank or vessel to pressures in ounces and compress the gas into a pipeline or booster compressor at pressures up to but not limited to 250 psig. One of the outstanding features of our Vapor Recovery Control system is the PLC driven Recycle valve. This system allows the unit to stay running during the low breakout period and quick response time when production peaks. Our recycle system is also instrumental in our ability to offer a 75% turndown ratio. VRUs can be used for tank vapors, pressure reduction, casing pressure reduction, plunger assist and in many other applications. We offer natural gas or electric driven packages as well as a cold weather package.

ARTIFICIAL LIFT

Artificial lift is a process used on oil wells to increase pressure within the reservoir and encourage oil to the surface. When the natural drive energy of the reservoir is not strong enough to push the oil to the surface, artificial lift is employed to recover more production. While some wells contain enough pressure for oil to rise to the

surface without stimulation, most don’t, requiring artificial lift. Even those wells that initially possess natural flow to the surface, that pressure depletes over time, and artificial lift is then required. As a result, artificial lift is generally performed on all wells at some time during their production life.

Jet Pumps

Jet pumps operate by converting pressurized power fluid to a high-velocity jet that mixes with the well fluids. The resulting lower pressure brings formation fluids into the jet pump and then to the surface. Successful applications have included setting depths ranging from 1,000 to 18,000 feet and production rates varying from less than 100 to 20,000 bpd. The systems are flexible because the downhole-pumping rate can be regulated over a wide range with fluid controls on the surface. Chemicals to control corrosion, paraffin, and emulsions can be injected downhole with the power fluid, while fresh water can also be injected to dissolve salt deposits. When pumping heavy crudes, the power fluid can serve as an effective diluent to reduce the viscosity of the produced fluids. The power fluid also can be heated for handling heavy or low-pour-point crudes. Hydraulic pumping systems are suitable for wells with deviated or crooked holes that can cause problems for other types of artificial lift.

Cimarron offers electric or gas powered, skid-mounted surface units combined with a Venturi downhole tool. One of the innovative technologies packaged with the surface equipment of the Jet Pump system is the Engine Integrated Control System (EICS). The EICS provides an integrated solution pre-calibrated specifically for the engine model. Features include:

• Dyno testing for specific engine models

• Advanced electronic fuel control systems providing immediate response to engine speed/load variations and fuel quality changes. Burning the produced gas is managed automatically (up to 2250BTU)

• “Smart” ignition coils for enhanced engine diagnostics

• Color Graphic User Interface

• Data sharing via Modbus RS485

Steamflood Enhanced Oil Recovery – Steam GeneratorsCimarron has significant experience in designing and manufacturing steam generators with capacities ranging from 25 mmbtu per hour to over 100 mmbtu per hour. Many of these have been installed in heavy oil regions such as the San Joaquin Basin in California and the Orinoco Basin in southern Venezuela.

In a steam flood, sometimes known as a steam drive, certain wellbores are used for steam injection and others are used for oil production. Steam-heating the oil to higher temperatures decreases its viscosity so that it more easily flows through the formation toward the producing wells. As the steam cools, it moves through the reservoir and produces the benefits of a traditional waterflood. An added bonus from the use of steam is the flushing of liners and casing perforations as well as the reduction of deposits in the well structure, reducing flow restrictions.

Waterflood Enhanced Oil Recovery – Water Injection SkidsCimarron offers produced water injection skids and pump systems for waterflood projects. Design and capacity varies widely between projects, and often use power generation skids also supplied by Cimarron. Waterflooding an oil reservoir increases the oil production rate and, ultimately, the oil recovery. This is accomplished through the injection of water, which increases the reservoir pressure to its initial level and forces the oil to the production wells.
