Principles for living to last a life time
#4 The “Necessary” Conclusion Principle
#1 The Pattern Principle#2 The Command Principle#3 The Example Principle
A common sense understanding of what the text actually says.
For Example…John 3:1-21- Why did
Nicodemas come to Jesus by night?
Genesis 6:14- Could different wood be used on the Ark?
Exodus 20:8- Which Sabbath were they to “remember”?
Matthew 22:31-3331 And as for the resurrection of the
dead, have you not read what was said to you by God: 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of
Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not God of the dead, but of the
living.”
The necessary conclusion was that there IS life after death
Matthew 22:41-4541 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together,
Jesus asked them a question, 42 saying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is
he?” They said to him, “The son of David.” 43 He said to them, “How is it then that David, in the
Spirit, calls him Lord, saying,44 “‘The Lord said to my Lord,
Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet’?
45 If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?”
Necessary conclusion was that Christ is BOTH Lord and man
Acts 10:9-16 Saw a vision of unclean
animals, 3 times “What God has cleansed no
longer consider unholy.” Verse 28 - came to a
necessary conclusion Unclean animals are less
important than men Gentiles were now to be
accepted into the kingdom
Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, in word or
deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to
God the Father through Him.
Might be… Command authority Example authority Neccessary conclusion authority But must have authority
When shall we eat the Lord’s Supper?Acts 20:7
On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them,
intending to depart on the next day, and he prolonged his speech until midnight.
Only on the first day is easy, but WHICH first day?
Jews could understand which Sabbath.Every one that came around!
We can understand which first day.Every 1st day that comes around.
Why Use the Lord’s Money for a Meeting House?
Hebrews 10:25 …not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of
some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Hebrews 10:25 demands providing a place to
meet
Rent, buy, build, borrow, or sneakAll are authorized, none are demanded
Why Use the Lord’s Money for a Paying Preachers?1 Corinthians 9:4-11
Do we not have the right to eat and drink? 5 Do we not have the right to take along a believing wife, as do the other apostles and the brothers of
the Lord and Cephas? 6 Or is it only Barnabas and I who have no right to refrain from working for a living? 7 Who serves as a soldier at his own
expense? Who plants a vineyard without eating any of its fruit? Or who tends a flock without getting some of the milk?...9 For it is written in the Law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain.” …It was written for our sake, because the plowman should plow in hope
and the thresher thresh in hope of sharing in the crop.11 If we have sown spiritual things among you, is it too much if we reap material
things from you?
Authority to support and only one means given of
raising funds.
1. Household baptism is not necessarily infant baptism
2. In. music/dancing in O.T. worship does not necessarily bring it to N.T. worship
3. A record of Jesus’ birth does not necessarily mean creating a holy day
1. N.T. commands to train children, do good, practice hospitality, visit widows & orphans & the sick does necessarily mean the church is to develop and support…
Mother’s day out, unwed mother’s homes, schools,
Colleges, orphan homes, retirement homes, Medical clinics, teen trips to King’s Island, Senior trips, Cows to Korea, concerts, Exercise classes, ball teams, build
gymnasiums, etc., etc., etc.
Hebrews 5:9And being made perfect, he became the source
of eternal salvation to all who obey him
Hebrews 5:9 IS a necessary conclusion that Jesus is NOT a savior of the disobedient
#1 Pattern Principle - The Bible, specifically the New Test. is a pattern, to be followed for life
#2 Command Principle – N.T. commands by Jesus and His apostles are authoritative
#3 Example Principle – Examples taught or modeled by the apostles are authoritative
#4 Necessary Conclusion – common sense understanding of what the text actually says
