Denise Campos has over 13 years of professional experience in community outreach and government relations.
Denise Campos Bio
Campos works at Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) as a Local Outreach Manager in the Regional Public Affairs team. SoCalGas is the nation's largest natural gas distribution company, serving 21.1 million customers across 12 counties. Prior to this she was the Community Outreach Project Manager on SoCalGas' Advanced Meter team.
Campos' career in public service spanned ten years working for Los Angeles City Council Members Ruth Galanter and Jose Huizar, City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo, LAUSD School Board Member Tamar Galatzan, and the Commission for Children, Youth and Their Families.
Campos is a graduate of the Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE) Leadership Institute and the Southern California Leadership Network's Leadership LA.
In July 2014, Senator Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg appointed Campos to the California State Architect's Board. Her term expires in 2018.
Campos is a graduate of San Diego State University with dual bachelor's degrees in Chicano Studies and Political Science. At SDSU, she was elected to serve on Associated Students, she was Vice-Chair of the Association of Chicana Activists, and was a member of Alpha Pi Sigma, a Latina-based sorority.
Campos is a native of Los Angeles, California, where she attended public schools in the community of Eagle Rock. Her parents immigrated to the United States from Mexico and she is fluent in Spanish.

Dear Ms. Campos:
I am pleased to inform you that I hereby reappoint you to the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument Authority for the term ending June 30, 2020. In order to complete the process as quickly as possible, there are several steps that must be taken, many of which require visiting City Hall. If you require parking during these procedures, please call Claudia Luna in my Office at (213) 978-0621 to make arrangements for you.
To begin the reappointment process, please review, sign and return the enclosed Remuneration Form, Undated Separation Forms, Background Check Release and Information Sheet within one week of receiving this letter. These documents are necessary to ensuring the most efficient, open and accountable City government possible.
As part of the City Council confirmation process, you will need to meet with Jose Huizar, your Councilmember, and Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell, the Chair of the Arts, Parks and River Committee, to answer any questions they may have. You will be hearing from a City Council committee clerk who will let you know when your reappointment will be considered by the Arts, Parks and River Committee. Sometime thereafter, you will be notified by the committee clerk when your reappointment will be presented to the full City Council for confirmation. Once you are confirmed, you will be required to take the oath of office in the City Clerk’s Office in Room 395 of City Hall. Claudia Luna will assist you during the confirmation process if you have questions.
