HOT WEATHERWith the weather getting hotter,

please ensure that your child has with them water to drink during

the day and a sun hat for when they are outdoors.

You can now buy a longer acting sun cream that lasts for 12 hours. Please apply some of this in the morning and it will last throughout the day (school is not allowed to apply sun cream to children, nor are children allowed to apply it themselves.)

Sun glasses are not allowed in school unless there is a medical note stating the need to wear them, therefore please do not send these in either.

When it is hot the time that the children spend outside is carefully monitored to ensure that they are not over exposed to the sun.

EMPTY CLASSROOM DAYFriday, 17th June is ‘Empty Classroom day’. It’s a day of problem-solving and teamwork, practical life and social skills – all practiced through hands-on holistic learning outdoors (weather permitting) – to enrich children’s physical, mental and social development, as well as being eco-friendly. And it will be FUN!

Each class will be doing their own thing during the day with all of the school joining together for a walk to the park – again, weather permitting! If you feel you can support us on this day please call into the office and add you name to the form there and we will be in touch. Thank you.

RHS TATTON SHOWMarlfields has an entry in this year’s Royal Horticultural Show at Tatton Park, which takes place from 21st – 24th July. The theme of our ‘garden’ is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which features a wonderful Willy Wonka; for a sneak preview of Mr Wonka, please feel free to have a look in our Art Studio on the playground while you are waiting for your child(ren) at the end of the day.

If you would like to see the completed garden and all the othe exhibits at Tatton Park in July we are able to get greatly reduced price tickets – instead of paying £32 entry we are

able to get tickets for just £19. If you would like us to get you any tickets, please complete the slip at the end of the Newsletter and return it with full payment as soon as possible (cheques should be made payable to Marlfields Primary Academy).

SPORTS DAY & PICNICOur school Sports Day is Thursday 7th July, reserve date: 8th July. Key Stage 1 (Infants, Reception – Year 2) will take place from 9:30am and Key Stage 2 (Juniors, Year 3 – Year 6) from 1:30pm.

You are all invited to come along to watch both events and to join your child for a picnic lunch. You are welcome to bring your own, or you can purchase one from the school kitchen either just for your child or for the whole family. The cost for these will be £2.10 per person. Please complete and return the slip below if you would like to order a school picnic basket.

UNIFORM ORDERSPlease find attached to the Newsletter a new, revised uniform order form. We are changing suppliers, the uniform will be the same, but cheaper with the exception of the school tracksuits which have previously been heavily subsidised by.

If you need uniform for the new academic year please place orders by 24th June to ensure you get your order filled before the summer holidays.

RUMOURSFrom time to time rumours circulate and we appreciate when they are brought to our attention so that we can clarify them for all parents. Recently Year 6 have planned their own end of year fun trip with Miss Carr.

They have decided that they would like to visit the Harry Potter World near Oxford. When they were planning the trip, the cost was rising and they asked Mrs Isherwood if they could offer the spare seats to others in school thus allowing parents a more ‘affordable’ trip cost. This idea was no problem to the staff and Governors so Year 6 are currently offering spare seats on the bus to children, starting from Year 5 down through to Year 3 until all of the seats are sold.

We have also offered the trip to children who had 100% attendance throughout the 2014-15 academic school year and/or this academic school year until the end of May.

We take this opportunity to thank Year 6 for the thoughtfulness they have shown in incuding others in the school to make it a more affordable trip for Mums, Dads and Carers. Maybe this joint working can be a positive more forward to make educational and fun trips cheaper for families.

STAFF CHANGESWe also would like to inform you that a number of staff will be leaving us this year for an onward career move.

Mrs Thornborrow and Miss Koslowski will be leaving us in August for other posts. We thank them for the work they have done within school for our children during their time with us, and wish them well in their new jobs.

This means that we will be welcoming new staff and we will report more on them next week.
